Re: Portuguese Players to Plainmoor
I guess the response was predictable. It will be difficult, it wont work, it wont suit our style of play, housing problems. Why then has Eunan O`Kane been such a success. Ok he is not Portuguese but he came over from Ireland, had to find accommodation, is a physical lightweight, but he has class, sk...

Portuguese Players to Plainmoor
Paul Buckle has done a good job at Plainmoor given the severe budget restraints and the very small hard core of support circa 2000/2500. The Board have rightly supported the reintroduction of the youth team and three players are showing promise Halpin, Yeoman and Palmer. Recruitment of good players ...

Re: Torquay United Legends
In my view a true legend must be a long serving player at least 5 years and preferably more. Sammy Collins - Scored 219 goals in 379 appearances scoring 40 goals in 1955/56. Sammy was a wonderful header of the ball and his goal scoring records still stand today. Not very big but a joy to watch. Robi...

Gulls Player
I have subscribed to Gulls Player for 2 seasons and it was only very recently that I discovered by chance that you can use player to visit ALL clubs outside the premiership. Perhaps I am dim and everybody knows already! However, if there is anybody out there who like me was under the misapprehension...

I have the same problem. Signed in about 15 times with no success. Disappointing.

Re: When was your first Torquay game?
My first game at Plainmoor was during the season 1953/54 but being only 10 I cannot remember who we played. I do remember that Eric Webber was the player/manager playing at centre half and was a dominant player throughout the match. This was the last season we played in black and white stripes just ...

Re: Membership Scheme Numbers
Thank you Matt for your comment. I think you may well have hit the nail on the head because the lack of publicity for the scheme, the complete failure to market the scheme in a proper manner, leads me to believe that there is a sizeable proportion of the board who are not behind the scheme. What I f...

Membership Scheme Numbers
I understand that during the first two months 64 members have joined the membership scheme of which approximately 20% are exiles. I have to say I am very disappointed at the way in which the club have marketed the membership scheme and last month I wrote to the chairman, Simon Baker with a number of...
