Marriot
Hockley - Woods - Branston - Nicholson
Buster Philips - Mansell - Hargreaves - Hill
Sills - Gritton

(I know Hockley wasn't officially a RB, but A, we've never had a good one, and B, he played a bit there!)
We'll be back...

Is that the slowest forward line in the history of the game?

And zero creativity from midfield..!

Not a great lineup at all, but in terms of likeability, they were all legends.

Gareth Southgate ????? I don't recall him ever playing in goal for us ?? I take it you mean Gareth Howells ...... or perhaps Neville Southall ? Keep taking the tablets - you'll be fine. That's a good looking team, Stefano. Bobby Baxter is a good choice (I'd almost forgotten him) but I think I'd go for McGlinchey. And unless I was Chris Hargreaves, I wouldn't play Gareth Southgate out of position in goal ...... ! ;-)

Mo Gull - SAMMY COLLINS was in my team !!! All time top scorer - more of a goal 'poacher' than the 35 yarders we see from Luke Young :goal:

----------------Southall-------------------

----Holmes - Lloyd - Elliott - Kelly--------

----Jack - Russell - Fowler - Loram---------

---------- Graham - Dobson -----------------

Subs – Veysey, Caldwell, M Holmes, Sharpe

Quite a few could have made it in, but these fine gentlemen that were once intrepid heroes steeped of the yellow and blue were who I thought of straight away. :-D
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

Hee hee! You are absolutely right Tommo. How the hell did I do that? To much thinking about dodgy ankles and other old people stuff and I forgot about keeping an eye on my memory. Southall it is then. Not at his peak when he played for us, but what a career and what a character.

The above team is a combination of players from different seasons and eras.

*SAS (Spratt and Stubbs) were the goalscoring combo that fired us to promotion in the 65-66 season. Sadly, Tommy Spratt couldn't find his Division IV goalscoring form at Division III level.
Cannot fault your selection Trojan, awesome combination, would be unbeatable playing now. I would add Ken Brown, Jimmy Dunne and Jim Fryatt to the bench.

*SAS* (Spratt and Stubbs)
No subs were named because the players not in the starting XI are far better than bench warmers these include :

Goalkeeper John Connaughton (on loan from Manchester United 71-72 season) best taker of crosses I have ever seen.

Fullbacks Eric Burgess, Bobby Baxter

Central Defenders Alan Smith, Jimmy Dunne, Ken Brown, R*chard*Edwards

Winger Ronnie Barnes

Midfielders Alan Kirkham, John Reid, Mal Lucas

Strikers Jim Fryatt, Alan Welsh, Mickey Cave, Cliff Jackson

Best Utility player Clint Boulton.

All the above players played at some point during the Division III seasons of 1966-67 to 1971-72 inclusive.
