[OS] Supporter Update: 20/03/24

Post by TorquayFans.com »

Torquay United FC would like to provide its supporters with an update on the current situation at Plainmoor. The significant number of goodwill messages and size of the donations received continues to astound everybody here at Plainmoor, and with every single Club employee directly affected by the recent events off the field, we cannot thank you all enough for all the support you have given us all. Thanks to the continued support of the Yellow Army – and our friends from all across the local community and footballing world – the total donations received as of Monday 18th March had reached an astonishing £22, 455.69. As a result of this, the Club can confirm that ALL player and staff wages have been secured and processed for the month of March, which obviously has come as a huge relief to all involved. Every single penny raised has been, and will continue to be used, to help the club continue to function and fulfil its fixtures, and therefore we would like to wholeheartedly like to express our huge gratitude once more. Thank you – each and every one of you.   Devon Day at Plainmoor Image At present, the Club continues to function on a week-by-week basis whilst new ownership is sought, and therefore we need the Yellow Army’s continued support to keep Torquay United alive until this process is completed. With this in mind, we can’t emphasise enough that every match ticket booked, Club Shop item purchased, or even pint in Boots & Laces drank, directly benefits TUFC, and helps keep the Club afloat. In addition to our designated PayPal Donations account, the Club will continue to run a number of fundraising promotions, which we hope supporters will continue to support, whilst gaining the opportunity of getting something back in return. More of these ideas will be announced over the next few weeks. With increasing attendances at Plainmoor the most obvious and beneficial weapon the Club has in the fight for survival, our remaining fixtures will also feature initiatives to encourage more fans into our stadium, with the first taking place this weekend against Hampton & Richmond (23/03/24 3pm KO), as the supporters of Plymouth Argyle and Exeter Club join us at Plainmoor in a united show of support on ‘Devon Day’. With both of our Devon rivals actively encouraging their supporters to show their support to The Gulls during an international weekend which has left their own club without a first-team fixture, we are sure that the Yellow Army will warmly welcome any visiting Pilgrims or Grecians into Plainmoor, as local rivalry is temporarily put aside to help ensure there continues to be three professional football clubs in our wonderful county. If you know of any Argyle or City friends or workmates that are at a loose end this Saturday, you know where to send them!   How are things progressing? Following the announcement of the Club’s intention to enter administration, Torquay United was officially put up for sale on Friday 23rd February, and with the interim moratorium bring extended for a further 10 working days on the 7th March, an update on this process will be announced to supporters later this week. Everyone at Plainmoor remains determined to secure a future for Torquay United, and the Club and its representatives are in constant dialogue with the National League, and prospective new owners regards a deal structure, with the TUFC...
