Would have liked an experienced assistant/DOF like Sturrock or someone, but Hodges (Lee) has a successful managerial start behind him, so it could be a lot worse.
Bill Phillips said he was first choice. The players who played with CH, is an issue, but it was one Phillips feel CH can deal with.
It offers a sense of these are TQY people and I think everyone will be pulling in the right direction. I wish CH and LH the best of luck and I suspect everyone will be behind them. Like someone else mentioned - possibly CPGull - if they go down, I think they need to persist with him next season - this is a gamble but one they need to see through.

Delighted with the news. Now all we need to do is get rid of that c*** Phillips so the club can move forwards. As for Baker, well we need someone to make the coffee and clean the toilets.

Think they will work well together. One appears, on the face of it at least to be lively, exuberant, perhaps a little impatient while the other appears quieter, more measured and more reserved ... I'll leave the rest of you to figure out which one is which! Should combine well in the dressing room though I think and Hodges having managed for 3 years at a decent level and only lost his job because of financial considerations could be an ideal foil for Greavsie.

HARGREAVES IS THE MAN
TORQUAY United are delighted to announce Chris Hargreaves as the new manager at Plainmoor.
The Board of Directors have moved extremely swiftly to replace Alan Knill, who left the club last Thursday, and the choice is a Yellow legend.
Chris will be joined in the new-look coaching staff by another former United midfielder in Lee Hodges, who spent two years at TQ1 between 2008 and 2010
‘’Chris has started work already and we are thrilled to have a new manager in place for the challenges ahead over the second half of the season,’’ said United chairwoman Thea Bristow.
‘’We have been inundated with applications from across the football world, and thank-you to all those interested in the position, but once the decision was made for a change of direction, Chris was always our first choice.
‘’He was very impressive in the interview and I am delighted to have both Chris and Lee Hodges back at Plainmoor.
‘’We now have a vibrant and ambitious management team to take us forward to the next stage in our development as a club, and we are all excited for the future.’’
Born in Lincolnshire, Hargreaves began his football life as a trainee at Everton before returning to his hometown club of Grimsby, where he turned professional in 1989.
A brief loan spell with Scarborough preceded a switch to Hull and Chris would remain a Tiger until West Bromwich Albion signed the energetic midfielder in 1995. However, opportunities at the Hawthorns would be limited and a loan move to Hereford soon turned permanent.
His next stop was down the road at Plymouth Argyle and he would spend two years with the Pilgrims before moving to Northampton, where he earned the reputation as a club legend in four years with the Cobblers.
At the age of 32, a fabulous career still had a long way to run, as Chris notched up a season at Brentford and two years with Oxford, but the next move, in 2007, would be the start of his Yellow love affair.
When Chris signed for the Gulls, we were a club in the doldrums. Relegated to the Conference and with just four players under contract, a new consortium took charge and appointed Paul Buckle as the manager to guide us back to the Football League.
Bucks quickly acquired Hargreaves as his midfield linchpin and it proved to be an inspired move. Chris would become a massive figure at Plainmoor, steering us back to League 2 with his dominant performances in the engine room.
He was, of course, one of the heroes of our play-off win over Cambridge in 2009, scoring the opening goal on that memorable day at Wembley. A proud playing career came to an end with a brief stint back at Oxford, where he also won promotion.
Since then, Chris has had a book published, opened a sports shop, worked extensively in the media, collected various coaching badges and, most recently, he has been first-team coach at AFC Bournemouth.
The Lee Hodges story is another impressive journey across the spectrum of English football. A Londoner by birth, Hodgy came through the youth ranks at Tottenham and graduated as a pro in 1992.
His time at White Hart Lane was interrupted by loan spells with Plymouth and Wycombe before he made a permanent switch to Barnet in 1994. Three years at Underhill was followed by a move to Reading, and then back to Plymouth in 2001, where he would remain for seven years
Blessed with incredibly versatility, Hodges could operate at left-back, in midfield and as a forward. He even spent 20 minutes in goal for Plymouth, when Luke McCormick was sent off in a game at Scunthorpe.
Hodgy’s Pilgrim adventure came to an end in 2008, when he skipped up the A38 to sign for United, and he would be another hugely influential figure in our resurgence under Bucks.
A wonderful playing career concluded at Truro City and he soon became manager with the Cornish club, guiding them to the Conference South for the first time in their history, despite huge financial problems.
Everyone at Plainmoor would like to welcome Chris and Lee back to the club and we look forward to a successful future together.
