Agree with a cashless turnstile

But just have a card machine in the turnstile for pay on the gate that is more expensive that buying it before

See Oldham have a guy even older than Danny Wright up front.
Chris Porter , 39 in 4 months time.
Bet he's canny even if he won't outpace us.

Slightly off topic, but can't believe Lucas Covolan has been sent off again this time in his debut for Chesterfield.

Under the previous ownership we’d have been lucky to sell 200.
Should be a cracking atmosphere and let’s hope it’s a good game.
All the best for the coming season, after tomorrow of course!😆😆
Didn’t sell that many. Under 900 away fans at game

Hope others saw it differently but it looked like two poor teams slugging it out in the heat. Still, good atmosphere and plenty of time to improve (at leat we didn't lose!!!).

Over 1k were sold with a good number still left for POTD https://x.com/officialoafc/status/15555 ... kiqMoQlHAg - everyone is already bewildered at the attendance announced even the commentator on BBC Devon thought it was more than the figure given. Tax man must be around and they want to knock a few hundred off both the home and the away end.

We were lucky to get a point today. Decent start but once Andrews went off we never really looked like scoring. Oldham had enough chances to win the game. Positives were Halsted, Moxey, Mcgavin and Goodwin although he was isolated once Andrews went off. Other positive was a good atmosphere despite the game not being great.

I think Oldham will be knocking about the playoffs come the end of the season so not the worst point but in reality I think playoffs is the best we can hope for.

Firstly 2,800 home fans in, kind of underlines my point from earlier about cashless turnstiles that's a decent home turn out.

On to the game, think this match will be more memorable for the ding dong battle between both sets of supporters, Oldham who had around the 830 mark were in good voice from the start and through out, and as usual our own fans got behind our team, and certainly had to be at our best to match the excellent away support.

A very good opening for Torquay, good tempo about our play, hitting the Oldham crossbar and forcing a good save from their keeper, sadly about as good as it's was going to get for us, the loss of Andrews early on, rendering us very lightweight up front, think it's time for some honesty regards Koszela nothing personal here at all, but we're a professional football club, whilst I think he's got the ability to earn some decent money from football, he's not close to the required standard for our level, depending on Andrews the squad might need a short loan to help, up front.

The game became a physical battle, and there was a time that previous TUFC teams may have crumbled, not this team so there's a positive we're not getting bullied with this team. There was some bits and pieces around the midfield and defence that could be put down as misunderstandings, hopefully they'll tighten themselves up as our new team gets more use to each other.

Couple of pieces of naivety firstly from Crowe which Oldham will feel they should have scored from, and then Omar who well feel relieved Moxey was probably close enough to be considered as a covering defender , saving Omar from another professional foul red card.

All in all thought the teams were evenly matched in many areas, although Oldham had more chances so perhaps could have edged it.

On the injuries front, this has gone way , way past bad luck now, personally wasn't upset when I heard Hepworth had moved on to Yeovil, there's something just not right, I can only hope the new physio due to start with the club Monday can start to address this situation quickly, it can't be allowed to go on, and the time it's taking to get players back fit and healthy is too long. It's that which cost a place in the EFL.

And finally what a pleasure to meet and get a chance to speak with the Oldham chairman, what a true gentleman gave a great talk in no10's about the lead up to their takeover, Oldham fans your lucky to have him, even fascinated to learn how his trike breakdown had been covered on the internet.

I remember 4000 at home to Grays when you could pay cash on the day. I don't think they brought 1200 😉

Totally agree - season after season during Gary’s tenure the injury situation has to be down to more than bad luck.

Glad to hear of some changes on the physio front, this is news to me. I remember the Norman Medhurst days, even someone a fraction his calibre will make a difference!

Yes, but Grays was 15 years ago, proir the original credit crunch, before global governments whacked their own economies (not wanting to turn this political) and the west did nothing to stop Vlad invading Ukraine, a price we're all paying, there's little money about, so 2800 home fans on recent averages is good.

I also was not aware that Hepworth had gone to Yeovil, at Torquay he was a one man band , no specialist conditioning coaches , no nutrionists, etc like a lot of clubs in our division possess , I have said a lot over the last two seasons concerning the unusually high amount of long term injuries, but I laso believe there are players in the squad, even today, who are prone to injuries
Anyway to the game, a very good attendance but if we want these floating fans back every week we need to play a whole lot better, I thought that the Goodwin and Andrews partnership were a well balanced and threatening attack force and then it went pear shaped, Koszela came on for Andrews and at times he wasnt even in the same time zone as Goodwin, without his family connection to the the club I am sure he would have been out of the door a season ago, he is simply not good enough for this league.
Two issues that were obvious from the start and both revolve around experience, nouse and guile the centre backs are young and inexperienced and need a whole lot better cover than they got today, Omar has a geniune issue with pacey forwards . The forward line for most of the game was aged 21 and when you are up against the likes of fondop at 29 who could have had a hat trick today the differnce was obvious.
However I will take the draw and its a better start to the season than last year.

You can pay old fashioned cash at the ticket office right up to kick off. As do many clubs. It’s really not that difficult. People can book holidays, buy cars, arrange anything they want, but ask them to buy a ticket at Plainmoor!’!!!!!
Funny that I saw a Facebook post but my a gulls fan booking an away ticket without a second thought just this week. Wow imagine that.

I think GJ knows Olaf has not quite got the quality for this level. He’s got a good finish on him and he can develop into a decent striker, but I don’t think he’ll make the cut with us this season.

Omar is another i’m not convinced upon yet. He’s come on leaps and bounds and his enthusiasm for the game is wonderful, but I think he’s a risk. I’d prefer to see another experienced CB alongside Moxey and Marshall, but can’t necessarily see that happening now. A young loanee is more likely
