A few managerial stats to ponder

Post by yellowforever »

I thought it'd be useful to use a few stats to compare the two managers' records this season, considering that Hargreaves has managed enough games to have sufficient amounts of data.

Games Managed
Hargreaves - 19
Knill - 24

Games Won
Hargreaves - 6
Knill - 5

Games Drawn
Hargreaves - 1
Knill - 7

Games Lost
Hargreaves - 12
Knill - 12

Win Rate
Hargreaves - 32%
Knill - 21%

Goals Scored
Hargreaves - 14
Knill - 24

Average Goals Scored Per Game
Hargreaves - 0.74
Knill - 1.00

Goals Against
Hargreaves - 21
Knill - 40

Average Goals Conceded Per Game
Hargreaves - 1.11
Knill - 1.67

Average Points Per Game
Hargreaves - 1.00
Knill - 0.92

Points
Hargreaves - 19
Knill - 22

Final Points If At Club All Season
Hargreaves - 48
Knill - 44

Interesting. And good work. Both effectively gave us relegation form, but I sense hector and stefano may up the ante after these revelations. Careful what you may have started.

Ling, of course, was better than the pair of them, but Yeoman and Courts done good today. :goal:

Surely another Yorkshireman! :)

Great work Yellowforever but I'm with FG!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Very interesting but whilst it doesn't excuse the record of Hargreaves, it sort of blows out of the water the theory of some Knill revisionists that we should have stuck with him. What it shows is things would be just as bad or more likely worse.

Interesting although it would have been better to wait until the actual end of the season.

Remember Mr Hargreaves hasn't yet won 2 games in a row. Mr Knill did!

Mind you I'm daft enough to think CH will win 3 in a row sending Wycombe and Northampton down! ;-)

I guess that stats show 2 very poor managers.

Very interesting stats and thank you for the work you put into that yellowforever.

Going into the last two games, stats don't have any significance. We have to do one thing.....WIN! We need other teams to lose of course, but we must win.

It doesn't necessarily show that at all, but ok.

These numbers, while interesting, tell us absolutely nothing of any meaningful value as to the relative merits of either man as a manager.
