to many people from outside of the area , poor wages, to much premier league shite on telly, if you live in bradford or places like it what else is there to do but watch football here there ar other things to do, its a nice part of the world and if the weather is fine people want to go and do other things,
my two sons both work locally and support torquay but find it hard with mortgages, cars to run etc, they both try to get to games if they can afford it, but are lucky if they can get to a ten home games each season, i think that footie on tv has killed it, if you go back to when i started going in the sixties other than match of the day there was no other matches on tv, i remember getting the football special buses from newton abbot on match days, always one double decker full up sometimes two, in the heady days of 6,000 plus gates, i really dont know what the answer is.
to me it seems the way of the world these days, its not just football that has suffered.
i can only say to you younger guys on the forum that if you have young kids you need to get them along to plainmoor as i did with my sons, they were hooked from the start.
