New sponsors?

Stop this now it's making me feel **** sick. That's a very good post Gulliball, I've never accused either the club or WTS of wrong doing, I have my suspicions that the club were left in a position were by they had no choice but to look for a new shirt sponsor , my suspicions were only heightened by the inappropriate over protesting by certain people, in their position what were they doing on a fans forum ? What were their motives ? after all there are two sides to any story, we only ever got 'their' version of honesty.

I believe all they did was withdraw financial support for our club a transfer to Exeter, claiming to be life long City fans and trust members on Exeweb, and number of our fans thanked them for it, incredible. The gulliball, not aimed at the poster sharing the same name, can believe what they like.

Finally welcome to MB insolvency, I hope you enjoy a long and fruitful partnership with our club., I'm not feeling disappointed at all with this, I'm in no doubt the club have gained excellent partners here.

You're taking that miles too literally.

Thea is not Bill Clinton, or HMQEII, she isn't blessed with bags of natural charisma or in benefit from dozens of degree educated script writers. She is asked for a quote and she gives an answer. She's not thinking about how it'll read or what it'll sound like when decontextualised and read dispassionately on the BBC news. She just answers the question as best and as truthfully as she can. Have we been looking for new sponsors? Yes, since the minute WTS agreed to step aside. Reading it in any other way is just looking for things which simply aren't there.

Damn this computer, logging me into the wrong account!

Gulliball wrote:One line in the announcement slightly worries me, the quote from Thea Bristow which says "It is widely known that we have been seeking a new shirt sponsor this summer".

The understanding I had was that WTS had stepped aside to allow someone else to take over. In other words, an approach (presumably from MB Insolvency) was made to us and we then asked WTS to stand aside. They did, and we now have a new sponsor.

Given that we had a 5 year sponsorship deal already in place, I don't see at what stage we would have been 'seeking a new shirt sponsor'. The only reason to end a 5 year deal would be if something else was lined up, which negates the need to seek anything else.
Or...

1) The board saw the club's rapidly-dwindling cash reserves.
2) Made an assessment of where they could garner further income.
3) Saw that the shirt sponsorship deal wasn't ideal in terms of money.
4) Asked WTS if they would consider standing aside if they found a better deal.
5) Received confirmation from WTS that they would.
6) Asked around to find the best offer rather than settle for the first they got. (Hence 'looking for shirt sponsors')
7) Got the best offer they could.
8) WTS stood aside.
9) Contracts were finalised, took a bit of time.
10) New sponsors.

Scrap that, it must be the club's great conspiracy that everybody seems so desperate to believe in, even if nobody can quite explain what it is.

I'm as picky as they come with speeling and GramMer, but one otiose 't' added to one example of a place name by the work experience boy at whichever website management company they have used is not any sort of reason to baulk at their six-figure cash injection. I know you didn't suggest it was, but someone, further down the line, might.

Think some people will disappointed that a new shirt sponsor has been found seems some on here were determined that WTS stormed out the building and the official story of wanting some more £ was all lies!

No fish/bait gif needed.

MB Insolvency it is then - http://www.torquayunited.com/news/artic ... 94136.aspx Let's hope this will lead to a longer more lucrative partnership for the club and that we won't need to use their services personally at any point!

Than kyou for your message, this forum does have a nature to go off topic at times.

I know Andrew is on the forum but as you said his workload is high and maybe has not had a chance to login as much as everyone would like to, Im sure he wouldnt mind you picking up the phone if you have a genuine concern about the club, or an email to him directly.

as I have said before, we were not made aware of who is taking over us as its very confidential until the press release, there are rumours of several different companies, but best to wait to hear it from the horses mouth.

The answer to your question of would we be willing to step back in again, we moved aside for more money to be put into the club, which is for the better of the club, more money = better players etc..

but we would consider it, if anything fell through with new contacts.
I can completely understand that, the need for more money is key to getting back in the Football League so the fact that you've stood aside to let this happen is very admirable and it's nice to know you would consider joining forces with us again if we weren't able to find more money from another area.

I hope this won't be the last time we see you working with the first team of the club again.

thanks for your post Charlie, I'm sure that's put a few yellows fans hearts and minds at bay. Great to have a company like yours associated with the club, just what we need :)

Back on topic - Charlie, I appreciate your honesty in this and it is nice to see you trying to answer our questions. It's something which I believe is important as a fan of a small club, and it's a shame that TUFC haven't felt the need to do the same. It had gotten better when Andrew Candy joined TUFC but he seems to have slowed down his posting, probably through workload.

If TUFC weren't to find a new sponsor, would you still be willing to take up the mantle?
