Wait, what? Really? £700 a match? I love Chrissy Waddle, one of my favourite ever players. Say it ain't so!
Wasn't he brought in by Wes Saunders? I thought he was just helping his mate out.

Yep Big Nev did come down here at the end of his career but they are so rare you got more chance to find hens teeth/ and remember.. Big Nev was quite a few years ago. things have changed a lot since then. now most players nearing the end of their careers are so well off they dont care about the lower leagues and want to go into something that makes a lot of money.

So did Chris Waddle, but that doesn't really help us right now.

The players we sign are either going to be unwanted at clubs around our level, or players we've never heard of at larger clubs. We could all name players we'd like, or who aren't playing at other clubs, but someone like Ankergren (who is going to be on a salary of £5k+ per week) is not in our price range.

Gulliball can I remind you Neville Southall came here towards the end of his very distinguished career.

A lot also depends on the character of the player. Especially with goalkeepers, who don't always get a chance if the number one stays fit, there are players willing to sit on the bench or in the stand for years on end. Carlo Nash and numerous others have done this for decades.

At the other end, youth players often prefer staying in their youth environments rather than going down the divisions. Tom Lawrence (then Man Utd, now Leicester and just made his Wales debut) turned down a loan move here a few years ago to stay in the Man Utd U20 team. Even with contacts, nothing is secure.

Most of the names in this thread are way beyond what we have a chance of getting. If you've heard of them, then their own clubs won't pay for them to play here or there will be bigger clubs wanting to take them if they are available. The players that end up at Plainmoor from the Premiership clubs are the Adam Smith, Bailey Cargill, Jak McCourt, Shaq Coulthirst, Andre Wright type players - that doesn't mean there aren't gems there but they're not players you know that you can realistically expect us to sign. Grimes is a £1.6m England international that's already played L2 games for years and Ankergren could easily play in the Championship, neither of them will ever come here in a million years.

Players would appreciate a game, wherever it is, rather than sitting on their thumbs most of the time. But which area of the team is in most urgent need of strengthening right now?

That why their third choice.

Fair play to you. At least someone is trying. Wha t boggles my mind is that there doesnt seem to be any of this action from the board /management. Is there such a thing as a loan list thesedays or is that just a myth / championship manager style make beleive thing??

Surely players all over the field are available for free short loans in some instances without us having to pay any wages at all?!?
