A player who's played and scored in the Irish Premiership came to us from quite a different level to someone from who's come from the parks and playing fields of the Bay though. I think Chamberlain deserved a bit of credit for being better than expected.

But Keating is a good example of taking a look at a player from left-field and it paying off

If you put good local players alongside better players they have more chance of showing you what they can do. Chamberlain had the chance and could not produce. Keating had the same chance and produced. :keepie:

Clearly you didn't see me try to squeeze in the 'large' Torquay shirt from the 2003/2004 promotion season, just last week.

That was pretty awkward.

Laughable
Try reading it in context next time before wading in, you utter clown.

You've managed to make two statements on your own there, neither of which I've said.

Just to break it down for you, to make it absolutely clear - I was stating that Chamberlain actually looked passable as a Conference standard player in the 10 or so minutes I saw of him at Braintree, which isn't bad for someone who came from Watcombe or wherever it was. It just so happened that Williams had a bit of stinker that day.

Costa of the lower leagues? If he's any good he could be worth Starbucks!

I actually thought Chamberlain looked OK last season. Admittedly I only saw him once (away at Braintree) but he did significantly more in 10mins than Williams did, and at least was a passable attempt at a footballer.

Sean Finch on the other hand - never before have I seen someone look so awkward in a TUFC shirt

For what it's worth we used to do this at a certain extent, we had a strong look at Jamie Vardy back in his Halifax Town days but got blown out of the water by Fleetwood Town's ridiculous financing at the time. Hopefully it's something that Dave Hedges brings back to the club, indeed given our current woeful budgets it's something we've absolutely got to do if we want to finish mid table or above. There's been a real lack of it over the past few seasons, besides getting in players that are woefully unsuited for our level to fill out the bench such as Jamie Chamberlain and the lad from Watcombe that was shite, simply because they are local.

Also how weird is this original post? Someone on trial at the club posting asking whether anyone knows whether he's on trial? Someone was looking for an ego boost...

I see this boy is still scoring goals for fun. 53 goals in 21 games. Maybe at a shocking level and he would have to loose a lot of weight but surely we could have took a punt on this man ?????
