There was only one reason CO had anything to do with TUFC was that he wanted the ground for “business” purposes and nothing to do with the good of the club. Just look at his track record elsewhere!

Of course Clarke Osborne, who had no interest in football, didn’t put £5 million of his OWN money in to prop up TUFC, that came from property developers (perhaps Taylor Wimpey?)

This hatred of the TUST by certain individuals has to stop. As we now know they are about
to launch a Community Share Scheme and will need as many fans as possible to get behind it in order to give us the best chance possible of moving onward and upward, starting with getting out of this League. So people saying that they can’t be trusted - is really not helping matters. It may well put some people off parting with their money for fear of the TUST running off with it! Come on people, admit you were perhaps wrong about the previous owner … and get behind the new ones.

If TUST hadn't waged a hate war against him he would still be here, I hope they are satisfied now

bringbackthecowshed wrote: 22 Feb 2024, 16:06 Wow nasty Clarke has gone after putting £5 million into the club but he is not a fotball fan ?!! And now people are getting excited that we will soon be playing Exmouth and Brixham can’t wait. My first match was home to Crystal Palace, how times have changed.
This aged even better 😉

He's written it off because insisting on his £4m (or whatever the figure is) would mean that nobody would be interested. Who would pay £4m+ for a club that apparently loses £800k a year? that's madness. Honestly, outside of football, who buys businesses with such a small likelihood of ever making you money, anyway. Much better to have somebody else take on those annual losses and limit future losses, while also taking the losses as a deduction against his more, er, successfull businesses. He won't get it all back but it'll help a bit. Suspect that the plan was always to write off those losses on the football side, but ideally (for CO) that was fine because he'd have made a fortune from his houses or whatever.

This move doesn't make Osborne a saviour,or anything remotely close. Even folding the club wouldn't get him that money back.
