Yeah, I remember Sow - saw him at the Dawlish PSF and he looked really talented. Like somebody else said, though, he seemed to not have the required fitness and tactically he was entirely unaware. Glad that he appears to be doing ok elsewhere, I rather felt he was a bit lost here - not speaking the language probably didn't help.

I remember that game at Whaddon Road. On one occasion he lost his markers near to the right touchline just over the half way line and just hit a thunderous right footer that swerved in mid air and just clipped the outside of the post/bar with the goalie stood rooted to the spot. It must have been from 35 to 40 yards out. The yellow army loved it and we weon 1 - 0 with the fox in the box scoring in the second half. Alan Connell that is. Constantine came on and just didn't seem interested too.

Completely agree. His first touch was absolutely immense!

And you can see from that video he has some ability. Completely agree that in the promotion season, he would of been great. Pace, skill, good with both feet and could get in a decent cross or shot too. Shame he didn't quite live up to what we could of had.

Glad to see something about "Mammy" crop up. He kind of appeared from nowhere, and then left us and disappeared to nowhere - lower division Greek (?) football it would appear!

To be fair, he was one of the most skillful wingers I've ever seen - he just had about 25mins of fitness in him, couldn't understand a word of English, no footballing brain and could not (or would not?!) tackle back.

I had two particular Sow highlights in my mind. One was a home game against Shrewsbury where he was terrorising their full-back Kevin Sharp. After one barnstorming run, Sow was jogging back to his position and Sharp gave him an absolute mouthful right in front of the pop. Mamadou - not understanding a word - just grinned in his face. In the next passage of play the ball came to Sow, who proceded to nutmeg Sharp much to the joy of the pop!

And the other was away at Cheltenham. First half they could not live with him, he was getting to the byeline and whipping in some dangerous crosses, so they doubled up on him. First time he found himself double-marked, he just cut inside and unleashed a beautiful left foot shot that was only kept out by a great save. You could see the looks of the Cheltenham players faces saying "How the hell do we stop him?!"

I always thought if we'd had him in under Leroy in 03/04, he would have been a great player to bring on to liven things up. As it was, he was part of an awful, cobbled together team of trialists who were in a dog fight. Rather like we're going to find ourselves unless Ling pulls some signings out of the bag.

Take a look, Mamadou Sow these days! Just type his name into google after seeing his name popping up on here a few times and wierdly, today that video was uploaded. The goal he scored brilliant finish.

Doesn't look a bad player and to be fair to him, I don't think he was ever that bad. OK so he wasn't amazing but he certainly wasn't the worst player Leroy signed.
