we didn't really play 4-4-2 though. If anything it was more 4-2-4, can't really say Kee was playing wide midfield him and RObinson were playing right up the pitch supporting the two through the middle.
don't think it was bravery, he just wanted the best attacking players on the pitch, he could have gone with MAcklin as a more otrthodox right winger or Stevens but like I said he didn't really pick a 4-4-2 formation and expect the two wide forward to play as midfielders. They'd interchange, they were full out attacking players.
in the past now anyway, it worked for the TEAM until the final when we had an off day for whatever reason. I don't see us setting up the same way again, mainly because at the moment we don't have the players. From all accounts Ling is a more rigid 4-4-2 man so i'd expect him to do a bit of business to get some more natural wide midfielders in, McPhee may well start wide right next season.
