Perhaps he just likes it in that area of East Sussex...........................

I know a BIG Plymouth fan and he said Barnes struggled to make an impact at any club he was sent on loan to, with Oxford, Salisbury and us among his disappointed admirers. Apparently it kinda clicked for him at Eastbourne on loan, but obviously failed to do it for us, but when he went to Brighton apparently he saw a shift in mentality and was hunting anything and everything for them and being quite successful, earning a full-time deal with them. It seems like it was all mental for him, and i guess some players really are too good to play well in League Two... :/

It was a case of player power, he was loaned to us whatever went behind the scenes at Argyle at that time with Barnes i do not know..was he forced to come to us maybe.

One thing that was clear from the first to the last minute is Barnes did not want to be with us, and did his best to be sent back as quick as he could, he has gone on to prove what a cracking player he is, and why he so highly rated as a young player.

Brightons top scorer so far in all competitions, with 7. 5 in the League.

just had a look at page 45 of the forum history for a laugh and found this.

What a tool Barnes was for us. And bloody useless too.

How is he in the Championship?

Ashley who...?

I believe the gesture was only made after some fans started jeering him. But still, he seems like a bit of a nob anyway, and that little thing with Benyon was ridiculous.

He just keeps popping up on the scoreboard doesn't he. He certainly seemed to have a high opinion of himself, too good for a bottom of league 2 club, glad we got Billy who appears to be a part of the team in a way Barnes could never be... (even if Billy can't find the net in competitive matches)

He does seem like a bit of a nob. We were absolutely desperate for a striker on loan last season and I'm sure if Buckle had time to make a choice, with his emphasis on team spirit and togetherness, he wouldn't have gone near him.

Scored against Plymouth last night - who would have thought he would end up playing for a team currently second in league one. Apparently he gave a gesture to the Devonport End after scoring. He is one surly bugger that's for sure. Personally though I wish him all the best and hope he doesn't score again this season - he is one arrogant arsehole.
