£500,000 ?

£1,000,000 ?

The only way we'll see that sort of money is with add ons/sell on clauses.

No if, when he goes, I would hope to see the above figures mentioned with an upfront immediate down payment of £250,000.

Oh and i do actually think that O'Kane is worth £500,000. Without a doubt. He's got bags of potential improving all the time and he may have international aspirations later on in his career should he make the step up so i think anyone paying £500,000 will have got a bargain.

As good as he is im not sure hes worth 500k yet, he needs to perform for the rest of the season at least.

To be honest when i read this story earlier , the first thought that crossed my mind was..if your interested in O'Kane come and buy him, as i have transfer plans i need to fund, it's going to happen sooner rather than later, as said above, when it does hopefully the club will get as much money as they can, which in turn will allow Lingy some freedom in the transfer market, long term may not be a bad thing. However will say hopefully not untill the season end atleast please.

Jeez Royal, you sound that bloke who got that nightclub owner garotted in leicester square and who you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. Either that or its just a couple of ponces poncing around talking rubbish!

(if you're in the dark Royal - don't worry about it. just have an inkling you might get it though ).

He knows he'll lose him sooner rather than later so I bet he would take a figure around 500k if he could invest it in building a squad. That said, I'd be surprised if he got even half of that to put towards his budget, Directors still need paying back etc so all pie in the sky really.

Any business would be silly not to advertise its most saleable asset surely?

I reckon Martin Ling is thinking "Wiv haf a mil I cud sort meself sum decint playas" ;-)

Re: O'Kane

I'm sure every club that may have a slight bit of interest has actually already formed an opinion on O'Kane before this total non story was published, even so do we even need to publish it?

No bids for O Kane - Great, No Phone Calls - Great. So don't make a story that makes it to the BBC touting out our best player please.

Re: O'Kane

by AustrianAndyGull » 08 Dec 2011, 15:25

Yeah i think Gullscorer is right. We aren't actively courting bids for Eunan but Ling was just answering the questions asked frankly and as people would expect. Like you say Gullscorer, football people aren't stupid ( apart from Iain Dowie and Dean Windass ) and Eunan will be on the radars of lots of scouts up and down the country. Ling was just pointing this out and highlighting the fact that he is under contract, we aren't courting bids and we don't want him to leave. If a suitable bid does come in though i just hope and pray that we finally get an honest amount for a player we sell on. Hope he doesn't go though obviously.

Re: O'Kane

I think Martin Ling was merely responding to questions in a radio interview. Everyone knows the value of Eunan O'Kane to the club, and nobody wants him to leave. Eunan himself wants to stay - hence his new contract - he and Ling both know that this is the best thing for his development as a player over the next season or two.

On the other hand of course, money talks; if an appropriate offer were to come in from a suitable club, presumably there would be some re-thinking to be done.
