Re: our retained list

I too am looking forward to seeing what ML can sign - last summer he did well with limited resources, limited time, and a bit of uncertainty surrounding the club - players must have known they were gambling this season in joining us. Whereas, this time round, there is no reason to doubt, players will assume we have a right to challenge this season again and want to be part of it.
So what do you think Ling, can you find a striker that makes Howe look useless and a couple of wingers to tear any L2 defence to pieces? Looking forward to finding out!

i think what we are seeing now is the fallout from what Ling had to assemble in a short space of time last year. that's no disrespect to any of the players, but Ling had to assemble a squad within about two weeks, and to be fair, we didn't do too bad did we ?

i'm really pleased to see Ling is already looking ahead, and i'm convinced he MUST have players lined up to come in. there are probably players he would've signed last year had he had more time to do so. In stark contrast to a year ago, I'm looking forward to pre-season, and the season ahead. I'm fully expecting ML to unearth a few more gems like Bobby, Saah and Howe.

I guess it might enable us to justify the (probable) high wage demands of someone who Lingy suggested might be used only as a potential back up to Damon Lathrope in the holding role in midfield.
I wondered (hoped) whether Easton had the possibility to involved in the coaching side of things. I would imagine that with only really Shaun Taylor and Kenny Veysey we might have had room for another coach - if he can still play a bit as well then even better!

It certainly seems like Lingy wants to have a bit of a clear out, which is good. Having had two good seasons, there is always the risk that we wouldn't change too much and fall behind a lot of teams. Having shipped out LRT and Palmer (and I'd imagine Atieno as well), listed McPhee and Macklin, if we can usher Leadbitter and Halpin towards the departure door we have some room to manoeuvre. We just need to replace the aforementioned with players who can do a job at L2 level - easier said than done!

Yeah i agree as Jarvis has been anounced. Last i heard there was an offer on the table. So i guess were either waiting to here back or something.
I just feel for someone to be on trial for that long, something must be on table or has been. I guess we will wait and see.

Hi Brett, how goes it ? Yes you may be right, however a very easy straight forward annoucment for the club to make if that was the case, yet they have not, that has me thinking.

I think if the club were going to put an offer in to Craig easton it would have been done by now, if it was cast in stone that O'Kane is going Lingy will know that, and I don't think he is going to keep player's hanging to whether we lose Eunan or not.

How about a midfield three of lathrope/Mansell/Stanley..hmmmm nice.

to give tai some credit he did extremely well over Xmas, we won most of the games where he deputised for rene and towards the end of the season he was apparently carrying an injury and suffering from the effects of some heavy duty painkillers! also he's probably not best suited to the one up front, so I'd be prepared once again to leave st martin to decide what's best for us!

I'm prepared to let him off of the serious misjudgement not to go 442 for the playoffs!

Agree.

I must admit having seen Leadbitter in the ressies a few times this season, he looks a lot better going forward than he does defensively and I have my doubts he will make it at League level.

As for Halpin, for all his promise, he now needs to go out somewhere and play regular football for a few months at least. Surely a loan deal to Truro City would suit all parties concerned - a lot closer to "home" for him too.

At least both players have youth on their side though and could still develop into fine footballers.

I think if hes shipping out LRT, Macklin and Mcphee then i cant see Tai staying. In my eyes he hasnt done enough, he scored what was it 6 goals which for a striker thats not great. If we have Howe and Jarvis i reckon he will look for 1 or 2 new guys and give them a chance.

But who knows, will be intresting to see what Ling has in mind. We got an exciting summer ahead and i hope Easton signs up to as ive always rated him as a player. If Eunan goes then a middle three of Damon, Mansell and Easton is still good for a league 2 side. Plus anyone else we would bring in and the Nathan Craig and Morris can also go in there. I would be happy with that.

We should be looking to loan out Leadbitter and Halpin obviously Tai is to be decided. Then obviously Ellis is the only other thing to sort.

I assume that completes the players st martin wants to release, I'd now be very surprised if tai is sent packing?

looks like its just a matter of waiting for contracts to be signed, to see who comes in for any of the squad, and to watch his transfer market dealings?
