I , like most really want Eunan O'Kane to stay here with us, and if your reading this Eunan please stay, however Budliegh makes some very good points and is spot on .

Yes of course us fans want the best for our club, and every penny we can squeeze out of another club for our players is the right way to go about our buisness,in the case of Eunan it is true, if £175k is a bargin price for a player with such talent and potential, why no que, it is just Crawley , no one else has come in so far, why not ? if he is worth so much.

DiCanio is looking to build a squad to go right through league 1, he knows we want Bodin, why has he not come knocking on our door, I have said previuosly I thought £175k was to low, but the evidence is now stacking up, the lack of interest in O'kane, is starting to make me believe that prehaps at £175k our club called it right after all.

If you actually read what I write then you will notice my comments are based on him having another great season with us.
That is making the assumption he's going to have a 'great season', one that has to be far better than that just gone. If clubs don't see his potential now, after the season just gone, then it's a big gamble to expect them to do so in a years time.

And if he has ambitions to move on and try his hand elsewhere then he is hardly likely to agree to a clause at a figure of £350,000 when the response at £175,000 has been so luke-warm.

well once he had this "£175k" get out clause that was all we could get for him. other clubs might have come in with the same offer but more money for eunan. i find it strange that the club when renegotiating his contract a while ago didnt make the get out clause a bit more, i presume there must be a sell on clause so we could yet get a bit more in time.

good luck to the lad (he will need it there) though, he has been excellent for us.

Join a team with a bit of history about them, a bigger club, more fans, not someone that in terms of infrastructure is on a par with torquay. I could of seen him in a reading type squad (not now there in the premiership) but definetly a Crystal Palace
Unfortunately, and this seems a point most fans are missing, no team of this type has come in for him. He can't go to a 'bigger club' if non make an offer for him.
the best move for him would be to re-negotiate his contract, increase his wage 'slightly' and to increase the minimum fee to £350,000
Why, if only Crawley seem interested in him at £175,000, would he suddenly become a £350,000 player and of interest to others?

Pretty sure that is the best move for us!

I wouldnt begrudge him a move to any decent team where I can forsee him fulfilling his potential but who on earth in there right mind would want to move to Crawley, when infact they can fall just as quickly as theyve risen. I dont get why people are saying Crawley would be a bad move. Hes got a chance to play a full season at a League 2 or League 1 club. Even if they stuggle next season, be he still shows he can play to the standard we know he can against some big clubs there he will get a lot of clubs after him.

Personaly as a fan i would love him to stay, but for him personaly i would take the step up. Hes been with us for few years now and why not have a crack at league 1. Equally yes i know he could stay and shine for us and get some attention but as a player you want to play against the best players and clubs and there are some massive clubs in league 1. If hes to get paid more for that too then fair play to the guy he deserves it.

Im not to bothered if he stays or goes now, no one player is bigger than the club and if he goes he will leave with our best wishes and will be replaced. Thats football for you. I have full faith that Ling will build a decent squad together with or without him.

Like most others on here it seems, I think he should give it another season with us and then move on next summer.

Yes it is a step up in terms of a higher league but whereas with us he is the "main man" I'm not so sure that would necessarily be the case at Crawley. There were plenty of occasions towards the end of last season when his performance levels dropped, probably through tiredness, that other teams/managers would have dropped him and once you're out of a side it can be difficult to force your way back in. At TUFC, the lack of strength in depth meant he was always going to be picked and to be fair Lingy showed complete faith in him throughout the season.

Now, no doubt he will be given plenty of chances at Crawley but he shouldn't forget that he will have plenty of competition for a central midfield slot there given that they have the likes of Torres, Simpson, Bulman, Akpan and probably one or two others I've forgotten. in other words he won't be guaranteed a starting place and a dip in form could well see him out of the side, something I would say is pretty unlikely should he decide to stay with us.

I'm sure Mr O'Driscoll has promised him a starting berth but you never know what might happen and at least in Martin Ling he has a Manager who he knows will continue to build a team around him.

At the end of the day though it really doesn't matter whether it's Crawley he joins or a decent Championship side as their £175k is the same as anyone else's as far as TUFC is concerned. I just think Pythagoras if he bides his time a better option will probably come along. But whatever he decides, I will always wish him well and thank him for what he has given us over the last two and a bit years.

not even that, crawley as an area is a HOLE! sure your on the skirts of London but still... definetly prefer the english riviera, the name speaks for it's self minus the weather ;-) and if Eunan is thinking about his skin tone then theres a much better chance for an Northern Irish lad to get a tan down here rather than crawley..
