I sat in the bench again on Tues night. I think the problem with crowd noise is going to be an issue with such a split crowd now that the bench is up and running. The Family stand needs to be made an actual family stand and priced accordingly. i.e 2 plus 2 for say 30/35 quid family ticket, in order to get the crowd the whole way round the stadium rather than just either side of the pitch as being the same price or similar to the Bench, unless you prefer sitting behind a goal, I cant see why you would not go in the bench if you wanted to sit. At the moment the crowd from Tues night was probably split say 200 - 300 Family Stand 700-800 new stand and say Pop 1,000 - 1,200.

I normally stand very close to or below the singers and will probably be back there for the rest of the season. A few seasons ago it was very rare to be outsung in volume and amount of songs sung by any away support, even when they filled the away end. We all know that the acoustics of the away end are better than the pop side, but with the new stand there as well the away end noise has been even more improved. The new stand sucks in the away end volumes and Chelts seemed like they had a lot more singing than the 150 they had behind the goal. At one nil down you could here a pin drop in the bench, but I know that it will take two, three months before it gets its own atmosphere going. So unless the team are doing well in the game, I think volumes will be a lot lower this season.

Plus, before Tues I didn't realise how poorly the sound travels from the home end on occasions.

I have to say, down near the away end the Pop was pretty quiet in the first half. Couldn't really hear the singers in the middle at all.

Much better second half though down by the Ellacombe end. Drum and crowd in full voice.

I also couldn't really hear the Bench make much noise although I could see them clapping and appear to be getting into it. I guess the noise around me drowned them out.

Notice the bench joined in a lot more think its because there sat right opposite us in
The pop now so they can hear the songs starting up

Glad to hear the atmosphere is good, I will be in tge bench as a one off on Sat, if I can hear the pop Ill be joining in, hopefully others will too!

Sorry Callum it must be said, give it a rest with this oh everyone moans at us we are so hard done by lark, when critcism is due you will get it, when praise is due you will get that aswell.

And it must be said last night the singing group on the popside were first class, lots of Torquay related chants, instead of total bollocks aimed at a player who means nothing to us from the other team, keep it lads and you will only get followers not moaners.

I do understand what people are saying, and maybe made the mistake of posting just after we got back from the game, when I was soaking wet, half cut, and not in the best of moods. Apologies for that!
It's nice to mix the chants, but personally I'm happy singing yellow army all day long when Plainmoor gets going.

Lets try and help one last time, for a start it would be nice if the young lads did start to use this forum as they have their own yellow army sub forum, and I know Joe and Dannyrv who stands with sometimes at home matchs and some of the others do have accounts on here.

Whilst I argee Alex allways better to talk face to face most won't approach them on match days so maybe steer them towards here for some helpful feed back, and my other suggestion to some who are on here, listen, take on board critism and suggestions rather than just dismiss those people as moanersor tell them if they dont like it start their own chants

Lets rewind to Tuesday, I am a 40 something I stand just across the yellow steps on the back row to the left of the middle block where the yellow army lads go, I allways join in with the chants and enjoy doing so, as do the lads I stand with, Tuesday I waited and waited for the chants to start, I have no problem addmitting I am a follower rather than someone who would start chants, nothing, yep we were getting butslapped, as said thats when those who will start chants must come into their own.

When the chants finaly did start they were..Konchesky is a pensioner...Konchesky is older than 90..Liverpool,Liverpool, and after the third goal when he dared cup his hand to his ear, the loudest chant of them all was..BOO..WANKER,WANKER..Brooker,Callum don't you or anyone else see the problem here, and realise this is the reason why your group is being critised.

My other suggestion would be stay in the middle, get yellow/torquay style chants going, keep them going however speed them up and slow them down etc, that way more will join and keep going, sometimes those chants are so fast, us 40 somethings turn blue trying to keep up and normaly give up and the reason why they fade so fast.

Completely agree with this Camb. As Ive said previously most of them dont use this forum so wont see any of this. Which is why I said talking about them on here will go nowhere talking to them at games will get them somewhere hopefully in the right direction so we can get the best possible atmosphere at Plainmoor.

Not fussed about the Old Farts, they'll probably be long gone by the time I'm able to get down to the hallowed turf regularly.

As for Matt, could you imagine cynicism from the entirety of young Britain. We'd never get through to them then!

I think you missed a group Camgull. There are also the Old farts who don't want anyone to sing. At all!
Finaly there is Me. I tried my hardest in the Family stand to teach and encourage youngsters to sing after hearing a group of 5/6 year olds with such incredibly awfuly language that would make even matt blush. I couldn't stand by and do nothing. I sat with Frankie Prince in that end for two years and we had started to get some real success. To the point that on occasions the pop side heard us and joined in. Although it didn't help one day when I forgot how to spell Torquay when doing the chant. "Give me T" etc. The kids just fell about laughing, not least when there was a board down the front with the name on it. (One hole please open up and swallow me please).
I couldn't carry on due to ill health but I did get the Old farts complain that "We didn't do that at Plainmoor" My reply was, "Well we do now so get used to it". Much to Mike Batesons amusement.
On the Subject of Matt educating our Youth. Ouch. a country full of Youngsters brainwashed into everything orange. and extoling the benefits of far right policy. I think not.
