From memory didnt he sign a three year contract after Colchesters (rumoured) interest last season?

Five year plan, remember ?

I don't know for sure, but I hope Paul Buckle will honour his "unwritten contract", see where we are after the initial five year plan, then decide where his and our future is going forward.

As it stands at this moment in time, we are in year four of the five.

An old fashioned time served apprenticeship averaged out at between 4 to 6 years. For all his unsubstantiated so called arrogance, Paul Buckle does know he is serving his "apprenticeship".

Components of an apprenticeship are making mistakes and learning from then. A time served craftsman is not immune from making mistakes, but there are fewer of them and lessons are always learned and noted.

Who among us is without flaw ?

Suspect this is a poor April fools thread.

I thought he was on a rolling 12-month deal? If not, i'd be surprised if he signed a new deal 'for the club'. And that's not a criticism of him. He's an ambitious man, and he's not going to reduce his chances of a move elsewhere, by signing a long-term deal with us (which would increase the fee we could ask for him). I'm sure he's currently happy at Plainmoor, with the club moving in absolutely the right direction. But if the right job comes calling (and at some stage it will), he'll want to be in a position to move with minimum restraint. An extension to his 'rolling' deal would seem most likely. Disagree with the comment above that he's less likely to leave if we go up too. If he gets TUFC promoted his stock will rise to levels beyond our control. If there is serious interest form a club in League 1 club in the South East area, he'll be gone.

Bucks have never been backwards in stating how ambitious he is, both in terms of the club, and of course personally. naturally you want that in a manager, and want to see them working hard, wanting to improve all the time - i'm sure even sir alex and the special one still look for ways to get even better.

i think bucks has probably already appeared on a few short lists as and when managers have bitten the dust elsewhere, and it's probably only a matter of time before he does move on.

however, i think he's also the sort of guy who would like to see out his "mission", or at least get to a point where he feels he can't take the club any further.

i hope he stays, but i'd also like to think he'd sign an extension anyway, so even if we don't go up and/or he feels it's time to move on, as a club we'll be in a position to get some compensation for him, and i genuinely think he'd "do that for the club". i'm sure when the day comes, he'd like to walk out and be able to say he's left the club in a better state than when he arrived (which i guess is already the case, but i think he'll want to take it even further before he goes).

Seems an unusual time for a footballing contract to end. Hopefully him and the club are just waiting for the summer to avoid talks distracting the players. He seems happy here and to trying to build something long term, though it would be hard to blame him if we don't go up and a higher division team came in over the summer - a situation reminiscent of Colin Lee (though fingers crossed for a better outcome this time).

I think the same as you Sneapy or maybe that he'll start next season with us if we're still in this division and leave if something better comes along and we don't look like promotion/play-off contenders.
I'd like him to stay with us a while yet.
