There's absolutely nothing wrong with League referees.

The accuracy and fairness of their decisions are impeccable. Their judgement and assessment of players' actions are always perfect, as is their eyesight. Their superior fitness and stamina enables them to outrun players from end to end throughout the whole ninety minutes. If there is one area where they fall short, it is whenever a dog happens to run onto the pitch; in such situations they are never able to see which team the dog is playing for, and are never able to outrun the dog, and so always end up getting bitten.

To be fair Paul, there was also a very nasty looking 2 footed tackle, on Rene late on in the 2nd half. Not sure who the Rovers player was, but it really didn't look good. Rene nearly came to blows with the guy. Ref obviously missed it and play continued. Not saying that the TUFC players were angels, o:) as there were a couple of "dodgy" tackles. We said, about half way through the first half, that at least one of the two teams would end up with only 10 men. Thankfully it didn't happen.

Didn't think the ref was that bad. There were a couple of decisions (That I can easily remember) that didn't go our way. Harrold, in the first half, practically caught the ball in both hands, right on the touchline in front of the standing TUFC supporters. A TUFC throw was given. To be fair to the ref though, Harrold did have his back to him, but the linno should have seen it. Not a game changing decision, but non the less was missed by the officials. The other one was in the 2nd half. Rene was given offside. He came off the shoulder of the defender and would have only had Bevan to beat. I guess, technically, it was not the refs decision, but the linno. He flagged and the ref. just blew.

Have to agree though with the poster who mentioned Robbo. I do wish he would stop pulling shirts. He does it all the time. Another player who used to do that was Toddy. Scares me to death every time Robbo goes into our area. I'm convinced that the ref. is going to give a penalty.

Also think that there were a couple of times when Rovers players could have gone down under challanges. Give 'em their due, they did try to stay on their feet. All credit to them for that. Still a brilliant result for TUFC though. I'm very happy today. Off to the Shots tomorrow. More of the same please boys!!

Have to disagree with the one who said the referee had a good game. I think that probably proves that the majority of decisions went your way. He wasnt just poor he was awful. I agree that we cant look on the referee as to blame for the result,the better team won but very few decisions went our way. I would like to hear your view on the two penalty appeals in the first half down your end as there appeared to be a definite push and a handball where the referee actually seemed to pause and was in a good position to see. Brady - what reaction did our fans give Buckle and what did the banner say?

i was sat between the half way line and the tunnel, and the noise from both ends was excellent. at the start of the game, the rovers were singing "where's your buckle gone?" which i thought was funny - especially as it didn't get sung again after the 2 goals went in

but when everyone got going in the blackthorn stand, it was very loud, but didn't seem to carry around the ground - all the noise was coming from that area, and none on the sides. both sets of fans were excellent though, and it was a good atmosphere.

I said in the previous post that I don't think the ref had a particularly good game, but he certainly didn't affect the result. I think both sides look like they may concede a few, but hopefully score a few as well, which will make a pleasant change from the mind numbing tedium of the past couple of seasons.

To be fair the noise does not carry from your home end either, i have been on your main forum where there is some of your fans getting a bit hot under the collar because some of our fans are suggesting there was no atmosphere from your end.

The point i made there and will here , from the tent we couldnot hear really hear you apart from after you scored, that does not eman you were not singing and getting behind your team, like us, i have read some of the views from home fans in the uplands who have said us gulls fans were really loud, i think it depends where you are in the mem as to what noise you hear.

Funnily enough, I could barely hear the Torquay fans, whereas Rovers support seemed very vocal ( obviously died down a bit after the second goal, but was fairly lively after we got our goal) . I was behind the goal in The Blackthorn End, I think we just have one of those grounds where the noise just drifts away in the away section, and obviously if you were singing as loud as you say, you wouldn't have heard us anyway.

That had to be one of my best away days for a while (excluding cup or play off games).

We had our ups and downs with Buckle, but what will frustrate you the most is the "pointless" substitutions. Rather than make a tactical change 2-1 down with 10 minutes to go, Buckle will sub like for like. It's almost like "his" tactics are not wrong but the players are.

As you now realise we have never had a problem with Bristol Rovers, if anything the fans we bumped into were friendly and chatty. Saturday wasn't Rovers v Torquay but Buckle v Yellow Army.

Someone mentioned our atmosphere, we are like that pretty much all the time on awayday, and it is one reason why we have a large % of our home gate who attend away games. I have to say your lot were pretty quiet. Even when you scored you had 2 minutes of chanting and then it was all quiet again. You let us rip the cr@p out of Buckle with no banter from you guys or support for your new manager.

I thought the ref had a good game and didn't see any dodgy decisions which would have changed the result. Everytime you guys attacked, you got your selves in a shooting chance and then smashed it over or wide. I thought both keepers had a blinding day with some really good saves on both parties. Bevan did stop it being 3 or 4-1 especially the period just after you scored.

Am looking forward to the return match and hopefully another visit to Mems park in the future.

To be fair to British Gas, he had thirty more reasons to be annoyed than anyone else

Just thought I'd pop on and say well done, you thoroughly deserved the win! Good atmosphere from you all too, one of the few away teams that have created a decent one at the Mem.

I've got the hangover from hell today so can't really be bothered to give my in-depth analysis but was really impressed with your team.

Also met up with some of your fans before and after the game and were a really good laugh.
