It appears, on the face of it at least, to be a very similar situation to the one we had when we so very nearly signed Charlie Ademeno from Crawley Town on Transfer Deadline Day in early February 2010 - unfortunately, as we know, the fax confiming the deal arrived at FL HQ just minutes after the deadline had passed. The FL stood their ground and Ademeno remained a Crawley Town player.
Now it seems we have a very similar situation with the "transfer" of Paul Benson from Charlton Athletic to Swindon Town. It appears to be acknowledged by Swindon Town that the paperwork for the transfer although all in order and completed before the 5pm deadline last Thursday did not in fact get faxed through until a few minutes after the deadline. On that basis, you would expect the FL to refuse to sanction the move but Swindon Town are a "bigger" club than us and PDC is already alluding to one rule for the Premiership clubs and another for the rest. However, in this instance, I think we would have every right to complain to the Football League if they allowed this deal to go through! :rules:
