Aaron Downes is clearly not sh*t where as Aaron Davies clearly is!
Ha no worries! He was an absolute rock for us when he first signed on loan but then got injured and only played a couple of games at the end of the season. He didn't look fit then and put in a few shakey performances. He had a serious knee injury at Chesterfield and was out for a long time so I guess there's a risk attached with him. If fit though he's a quality L2 defender and not much get's past him.

Oh cheers Rich, I didn't realise that, it was only a few weeks ago McGhee was saying he'd like to sign him if he can't bring back Parkes and Bolger. He was a rock for us until his injury then he was pretty bad at the end of the season. Can't see Exeter doing much this season.

Nobodys really mentioned Aaron Downes. I wonder if he's a possibility?

i'm sure i'll be shot down in flames, but i can't help thinking that ML (probably under instruction from above) might be actively trying to sell Eunan, or at least, encourage interest. I don't mean he wants to sell him, because he clearly doesn't want to lose him, but when i read things like this, it just seems to me like he's putting Eunan back in the shop window since everything has died down following his rejection of the move to crawley.

it's not a criticism, as ML is already a star for what he has achieved in the last year, but i can't help thinking if i was in his position i'd be thinking "thank fooj he's still here, i'll keep my mouth shut and hope no one else comes in for him". or could the club be hoping to cash in, money in the bank and all that ??

i hope i'm wrong.
Rovers have been doing the same with Carayol. If a club is desperate to keep a player they certainly don't put things like that on their official site.

Re: Byron Anthony?

Muzzy wants out, Tony Mowbray has confirmed he's a target for M'Boro but they can't agree a fee. Think they've bid around 200k, we want around 400k, I'd imagine a deal will be struck sometime in August for around 250k.

We won't set the division alight, but with a few new faces I can see us possibly being on the fringe of the playoffs, no more. With the squad you have I honestly think you have a great shout of being top 3, barring a major injury crisis.
Have I misread this, or has no one else noticed?
You are suggesting a Championship club want Mustapha Carayol and you are hoping to receive four hundred thousand pounds in return?
That. Is. Amazing.
Correct! We turned down a bid in Jan from Barnsley for around 150k, then again this summer from another championship club, believed to be Derby for just under 200k http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/page/Lat ... 01,00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .They've now signed Michael Jacobs from Northampton.

M'boro have publically stated their interest http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/boro-fc/bo ... -31289470/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;?

As I said we won't get 400k, I'd imagine it will be around 250k + a sell on. Lincoln also have 20% if I'm not mistaken. We're likely to accept the lower bid because he only has a year left on his contract.

Solid defender. Was hoping Rovers might be in for him tbh. Think he'd be a good signing.

Incidentally - have you guys strengthened much and is Carayol staying?
All quiet really. We did sign a 19 year old midfielder Noburn from Leicester yesterday. We had him on loan last season under Buckle but his confidence was shot after he started him then bought him off after 25 mins. Think he's very much just a squad player and one for the future.

Had 2 bids for James Constable turned down a month or so ago, not sure if we'll come back in with a third bid, personally I wouldn't go above the 150k we had rejected. He also wants to bring back the loanees, Bolger & Parkes from Leicester, aswell as Lund from Stoke.

I'd personally be very surprised if Anthony is top of lings transfer targets for cb. He doesn't seem to go for the obvious so maybe he'll surprise a few people.

He's signed for Aldershot anyway.

Zeb will most likely follow Buckle. From the outside it looks like you've got a much better squad now than when you got in the playoffs the year before so don't know why you'd have him back.

It's never really worked out for Zeb at the gas, he had a good spell and got the fans on side but it's pretty clear he's not in Mcghees plans.

Yeah Stanley did fall out with Buckle, but that was around Oct time and they sorted things out. He didn't run off the pitch quick enough when substituted (no joke) :)

Re: Craig Stanley

Would be a solid enough signing if he goes to Luton. Never really happened for him at Rovers, too similar to Gill but he always gave it his all.

See Buckle has signed Rowe-Turner today too. Also talk of Zebroski following him.

Re: Byron Anthony?

On the face of it it's a possibility but if Ling is looking for a solid defender to compliment Saah and win headers Byron isn't the man. He can be brilliant on his day but as others have put can switch off and prone to making mistakes. He went downhill at the gas when Steve Elliott was let go.

I'd be surprised if Ling decided to go for him. I thought he might end up at Exeter.

Re: Has O'Kane Gone Yet?

I agree with you, I very much doubt he'd consider going to another L2 club. Most fans get abit carried away and think they can attract better players than they can, usually out of hope than expectation. It's easy to get an opinion about a club from a tiny percentage on an internet forum, especially after some of the clowns that came on here last summer sprouting crap about Buckle etc but I'd say very few real fans hold much hope in attracting O'Kane. You can't blame a manager for making an enquiry though, but I doubt it'll go much past that.
