Seating issues

grockle wrote: 30 Dec 2018, 05:03 Can someone explain why 2 blocks of seating are allocated to clubs bringing less than 100 supporters to the game. It seems excessive when the club is struggling to get everybody seated before the game starts. I was sat in my allocated seat in Bristow's on Saturday, 5 mins before kick off a steward, with 16 on her vest, was stood at the top of the stairs telling all new arrivals to sit where ever they liked. So much for the new policy.
Seemed to me it worked fine
People arriving early were told to sit where it said on their ticket.
Then with 5 mins to go and no queue outside and with plenty of seats available the policy was updated to get people sat down as quick as possible so as to cause as little disturbance as possible to other supporters.

Seating issues

When Bristow's first opened you were given a ticket at the turnstiles with your seat number on it.
They also had stewards inside the ground checking to make sure you had a ticket because people were paying for the cheaper family stand and then going into Bristow's.
You were told as long as it wasn't busy you could sit anywhere but would have to move if the person with that seat ticket asked for it.
On the bigger games you were supposed to sit in the seats printed on your ticket.
As I have been a season ticket holder ever since that first year I did not realise they had changed the way they do it.
So basically it looks like TUFC need to sort their act out on how they want to issue tickets.
I still say that if they give you the option of pre booking your seat I would be annoyed to find that someone else was sitting there because they had arrived earlier than me.
It's bad enough trying to get people out of your season ticket seat sometimes.

Oh and to suggest that a season ticket in the pop is the same is ludicrous.
All seats are numbered you should have 1 ticket for each seat . You can't reserve a standing spot

Unless they have changed the way they do tickets, every ticket has a seat number on it .

But when you pay cash at the turnstile you don't get a ticket.

Cost cutting so TUFC fault as usual :scarf:

Teigngull wrote: 27 Dec 2018, 10:17 I can see both sides of the arguement, fortunately there is a simple solution(s).
I think the club could be wise & allocate a block of seating that is only available to book online , cleverly suggested by brucie. This way EVERYBODY (Inc the plastic police) know where they stand.
Also it MUST BE MADE CLEAR that ALL TICKETS MUST BE RETAINED FOR CHECKING AT ANY TIME (Inc season tickets holders).
Or even simpler, make it clear that if you book online, all purchasers MUST'VE CLAIMED their chosen seat 15 minutes before Kick off.
Every paying customer should be treated with the respect & appreciation they deserve regardless of how, where & when they purchase their ticket.
TUFC should ensure that EVERY member of staff, paid, full time , part time , voluntary, is 101% briefed & clear in the club policy on seating arrangements in Bristows bench, this way there should be no or, at very least, minimal aggravation / issues with seating EVERYBODY ?
If we want to portray our selves as a professional football club then it should start at the very top right down to the guys/girls who sweep the terraces, ignoring the issue or making it up as you go along is not acceptable or good enough.
We've seen major improvements on the playing side with proper footballing people put in place & on the administration side vast improvement has been made by weeding out the weak links that were hampering the progress & success our loyal fans deserve.
We can all accept mistakes are made but if they're constantly repeated then heads need to roll, we're in the entertainment business & the paying customer is key, treat them with contempt & they will disappear for a long long time.
Down to you now TUFC.

Sorry for the constant use of CAPS but I wanted to get my point across c!early.
Complete twaddle same as Brucie.
Unless they have changed the way they do tickets, every ticket has a seat number on it . Seat C73 is between seat C72 and C74 not hard to work out.
The only problem is stewards telling people 'sit where you want'. This is not surprising considering most of the stewards are from Plymuff. A four syllable answer is above norm for them.
The correct response is ' If it's not busy sit where you want but if someone comes along with a booked seat then I'm afraid you will have to go and sit in the seat it says on your ticket'. Bit too much for them to say though.

So people who just turn up on the day think they should be able to sit wherever they want
But people who had the foresight to think that it was going to be busy and wanted to guarantee that they sat together booked their seats in advance shouldn't be allowed to because they couldn't get to the ground early. What complete tosh.
If you can't be bothered to book in advance you should have to accept whatever is available on the day.
It is the fault of the club not issuing everyone with tickets with seat numbers on that causes the problem.
And if you turn up on the day and your tickets are for different parts of the stand , well that is only your own fault.

Hampton & Richmond Borough V Torquay United

Nice one Dave. It’s probably worth mentioning that where our fans got a bit giddy is when we played clubs that had zero stewarding and hadn’t planned in advance, WSM and Gloucester springs to mind(although Gloucester was more frustration).
The reason there was trouble at those two matches was because the so called 'Yoff were there.
They are next due to appear at Bath so I hope Torquay and Bath are aware of this and take neccessary precautions.

I'm no expert but what I do know is the bank of England make forecasts based on assumptions of what they think (not know) is going to happen, the Bank England are not deliberately lying to anyone, but you can have best or worst case scenarios based on whatever narrative that suits after all, the bank of England don't appear to have a single forecast right since Hovis invented bread.

Mark Carney warned in 2016 a leave vote would cause a technical recession in the UK. Didn't happen.

Then earlier this year, the same Mark carney admitted his pre referendum predictions were all wrong. No shit, thankfully must didn't believe you then and don't now, as project fear, no surprise now the date looms large has turned into project hysteria.
The Bank of England are using worst case scenarios as they have admitted. This is pure scaremongering.
To balance the argument perhaps they should also show a best case scenario.

Arelbee wrote: 12 Dec 2018, 19:54 Comparing the brexit complexity to the restaging of a football match is just so way off the mark it’s frightening. In truth, a high proportion of people who voted did not understand the implications of their vote due to the complexity of all of this. Now that the reality is to some degree known, I believe we SHOULD ask the question again - but only when we have agreement as to the options and they have been explained clearly.

I appreciate that if the decision reversed there would be many millions of leavers disappointed but if more information fundamentally changed the minds of enough people to reverse the decision, then that would feel like democracy.

To use the football analogy I would say it is more like being asked do you want to back your football team to win, only then to find out later that actually they will be playing a rugby match!
It's continually insulting the Remainers keep saying that Leavers did not understand were misled etc etc in the Referendum.
It is also a fallacy that simply leaving is too complex. This has been propagated by MPs who are almost all Remainers.
Have a read of the House of Commons briefing paper 'What if there's no Brexit deal'
It's not all doom and gloom
Plans to implement a no deal started a long time ago and businesses are already taking the actions recommended and required by HMRC to deal with the EU if/when we leave with no deal.

Perhaps not best to ask Steve Breed as he allegedly threatened to kill her when he was CE.
