A boycott would undoubtedly mean the club going into administration, but if the club then folds and the council no longer have a tenancy for Plainmoor, wouldn't a phoenix club be able to just become the new tenants?
I'm fairly sure the mayor can't just sell a plot of land without some kind of oversight and we've already established the council are behind the club.

MOTM - Tranmere
In no particular order.....
Gowling - solid, leader on the pitch
McGinty - solid, no nonsense defender (these two make a great pairing)
Lathrope - unsung hero for me, looks fit and up for it. If he can stay that way, he will be an essential part of our success this season
Chaney - pleasing performance from him, didn't get forward with as much as he could have but that's a touch harsh as it was against a very good Tranmere side
Keating - tireless running, didn't allow the defence or keeper to settle, goals will come

Torquay United vs Tranmere Rovers 5.8.17
Lots of positives to take from the game yesterday. As has been mentioned already, the defence looked solid as a unit, so that boys well for the more winnable games that are surely to come.
I think the midfield and forwards are getting a hard time of it from comments too. They were up against what is clearly a well drilled experienced side that will be challenging for promotion again this season. The endeavour was certainly there and we'll get much more opportunities against weaker opposition.
Feeling positive about the season ahead and I don't think we'll be bouncing around the relegation places again. A mid table campaign is just what the doctor ordered after recent years.

What would you like to change at TUFC?
There is no denying the previous two board's love of the TUFC, but I want someone to turn our club into a professionally run outfit that makes people want to come to Plainmoor.
At the moment, we are just expected to turn up and be spoon fed the same crap week in week out and our supporter base is dwindling because of it.
We need business people with proper commercial acumen to engage fans and move the club forwards. If you scrimp and save continually and offer up no innovation, you pretty much get what we have now. A stale shell of a football club.
I am all for a new stadium with the facilities and infrastructure to take us into the next 50 years, but we are not even utilising what we have already.
Thankfully in this respect it appears the current board are starting to do this. We are just understandably concerned about being done over in the process.
This season, I want moderate success on and off the field. Mid table rather than bumping around the relegation zone. New initiatives off the field to engage fans. A positive vibe around the club.
How do we do it? Don't ask me, I'm not in marketing....![Glasses :)](./images/smilies/glasses.gif)

Club Badge refreshed
Got to say, I like the new badge. It looks smart and modern. The colors are good too.
Looking at it in the new goalkeeper link in another thread, the Torquay United really stands out. Good job whoever designed this.

How about taking out a full page advert in the herald?
Anyone have an idea how much that would cost?

A turgid draw devoid of any quality that once again makes me wonder what the players get up to at training. 0-0.

I wonder if the budget being talked about includes our new scout and Geoff Harrop? Can't see any other way that a squad of 16 has turned into a mid table budget.

Does anyone know if there is a team playing at Coach Road in Newton Abbot currently? Tidy ground, would be a perfect place to base a phoenix club until it becomes established.merse btpir wrote: ↑23 Mar 2017, 20:42 OK Neal; out some meat on this phoenix bone of yours ~ GI fold the club...........let's assume that is in the close season and so where would your phoenix club play their football next season?
I can tell you; nowhere because no league will accept them that late into the summer.
........and on which ground would they play? Don't think for one moment you would get Plainmoor; and exactly at what level of football in your vision would you attempt to get your phoenix club starting the 2018-19 season then?
I'm not knocking your genuine enthusiasm mate; just playing Devil's Advocate as someone needs to do with all brilliant conceptions.

Torquay V Tranmere
I must say, that was an enjoyable 0-0 to watch and a much better game of football than I feared before kick off.
Plenty of positives to take but why can't we do that every game? We looked up for it, chasing their players all over the pitch and making sure they never had too much space and time on the ball.
Make no mistake, Tranmere are a horrible, niggly, tough side challenging at the right end of the table, but we stood up to them and it was actually a good contest.
Many good performances but I must say I really liked Keating when he came on. Very nearly made a chance for himself closing down defenders and putting himself about. More game time please Nicho.
If we can perform like this we'll see ourselves clear no probs. There are literally no teams to be worried about in this league if we apply ourselves and put the effort in.

Verma - I really like the look of him in the middle
Young - loads of effort if lacking a touch of quality tonight
Dickinson(?) - good solid display from the right back
Sparkes - good attacking intent and great closing down, in the first half especially
Rowe-Turner - had a tricky right back running at him the whole game and did well against him

Torquay United v Guiseley
Yet another low point in the history of Torquay United. What happens now will show the new owners intentions.
Are they happy with a sustainable part time conference south team with income generating facilities or do they want the team to be successful in the pitch. Sadly I think it's the former but I live in hope that is the latter.......
Edit: by the above, I don't mean sack KN, I mean sack, back or do nothing and go down.
