Our offer of investment , which was substantial , was there early in the season and up until the point when both Paul Cox and dean edwards left in late september. It felt as if we were never wanted by some people on the board.

No connection to norman other than having met him a few times at games and other events. If hes still at port vale when I go there next, well have a good chat.

Never spoken to them.

Too late now. Weve invested elsewhere and are very happy to have done so.
Did you meet Norman Smurthwaite at a Oxford vs Port Vale fixture by any chance?

Ben Gerring

Whilst I'm not expecting him to be the next Jamie Vardy, at best he could turn out to be another Kieffer Moore, who has had a decent career so far after appearing for Paignton Saints, or - at worst - he could be another Karl Baker and disappear back into local football as quickly as he arrived.

What needs to happen ...

This idea might be worth exploring - what if we play a 4-3-3 similar to the one used by Martin Ling during the 2011-12 season.

The idea involves a midfield trio of Courtney Richards (ball winner/holding player), Bayan Fenwick (box-to-box player)and Josh Carmichael as the playmaker in the absence of Luke Young.

Lavercombe retains his place in goal, with a back four left to right of Durrell Berry, Angus MacDonald, Nathan Smith and Dan Butler with the front three of Fairhurst playing as a central striker with Wright and Murombedzi in support.

It's worth a try on Tuesday against Bideford if nothing else.

Barrow v Torquay United

arcadia wrote: What are you saying you want the Butcher to carve him up! :~D :) :-D
It's reassuring to know that a player uses his local Butchers instead of visiting Tesco or Sainsburys. If what you are saying is true, then Kevin Nicholson needs to route out those players and replace them with ones with a more professional attitude.

If the player was saying that, then it is sign that he personally is annoyed and frustrated with those players and their approach.

Another thing yesterday was that James McQuilkin scored for Kidderminster yesterday, I think we made a mistake in not retaining him as he offered us a viable alternative to Luke Young, which is something that this team is crying out for badly.

Basingstoke FC V Torquay United - Match day thread

Good idea, maybe for each home game we could invite an ex-player to every home game and get them to do the half-time draw and Steve Breed could then ask them questions about their time at Plainmoor. I know Argyle do a similar thing with ex-players.

Foyle did indeed issue them with a winding up order, but it was the unpaid tax bill which ultimately led to their extinction.

The most likely party would be as you state, be HMRC which the Club is fully up to date with so no immediate risk there
Only HMRC have any real power when it comes to winding up a football club.

All debts to HMRC and other football clubs have to be paid in full, as per the Football Creditor's Rule, all other creditors - unsecured creditors - are forced to accept 10p in the £1 or whatever the Administrator decides.

A football club entering Administration is not like a normal business going into receivership - it's more along the lines of a personal bankruptcy.

It is the very nature of football to try and keep positive and never disclose issues such as this
The Board are really up to their neck both financially and lack of experience but if they came out as it were at least we could all decide if we would want to contribute to help sadly they see this a weakness and doubt it will not happen until it is to late
Would this 100k include any monies owed to HMRC?

Added in 5 minutes 6 seconds: No Bond was paid to the National League by Torquay United. Its as simple as that

Truro was in Administration with a 4.5m Debt. Torquay has a good Balance Sheet and at the time paid all their Debts when due

Now it is down to cashflow

:rules: :rules: :rules:
Truro still needed to pay the Bond though.

Shouldn't that be 'Torquay have a good balance sheet' rather than 'has a good balance sheet'.

Also, why were June's wages paid by the current consortium and not the previous one, as stated at the fans forum.

Finally, why do you and your friends only target this forum?

Surely if you really believed what you were saying you would say it to anyone?

But asking for a Bond is standard practice, as is the same for Conference North/South clubs.
Truro City needed to pay a similar bond to fulfil their fixtures a few years ago.

Thanks for stating the last statement, because if the club was in severe financial trouble they would be the first group of people to issue a winding up order as they would want to be paid first, and in full.

The vast majority of football clubs fold due to unpaid tax arrears.
