The 'Gordon Oliver' Trophy
Is this just the most obvious arse kissing exercise going? An attempt to play to the man's ego and reap some tenancy rewards as a result!?

BBC Pull Commentary of Torquay Games
The size of a football club is not determined by what league they are playing within and making decisions using that as the underlining reason is nothing short of ignorant and arrogant.
The fact is should the team be performing to a much better standard and winning football matches on a regular basis then I would hazard a guess those listening figures would actually increase.
This decision seems purely based on budgets and cost cutting rather than the service provided to the listener. Shameful.

It is the third kit.....the away kit rumoured to be sky blue (sounds ok). Home kit is yellow shirts, shirts and socks (best not to discuss the black flashes on it however!)

Player Search - Who Will Turn Up?
The last two players coming in are definitely bigger signs of intent to me than I was worrying we were showing last week and I agree it looks like Owers is playing a better hand with his budget than perhaps was seen last year when all the big signings arrived early and then we had to sign fillers to get the squad up to the required number (something that would haunt us with the early injuries we suffered).
Dickson in particular impresses me although it will be interesting to see how he goes in a position he has played little in throughout his career.
What is clear is we have more than enough cover for centre half and central midfield spots (with Essuman and Sokolik also able to play both). Davis also has cover but I wonder who can do the cover job for Wynter at right-back?
Wingers wise we have three it would seem (I expect Reid to be counted as this rather than a striker) so perhaps finished recruitment wise in that area.
I am sure Owers is more than aware the big piece of the jigsaw is still missing and let's hope he has something lined up in terms of a hold up/target man as if one comes in I think we will all be feeling a lot better about our chances.

New kit on the way?
So – either just support what is happening on the pitch otherwise 'feck off' as you are a ‘special kind of stupid’! Got it!
How is that going by the way? Winning many matches lately are we.......sorry!!!, there is me questioning things again. Let's all just either carry on happy clapping this abysmal period or let’s all do a brucie (as in become a no-show forum troll!).
In honesty the likes of Teigngull and brucie do not bother me as they are what they are but I expected better from forever and if this is the current thinking of a fan whose opinion is often insightful and of value then we really are lost both on and off the field.

New kit on the way?
In honesty I don't have the need nor energy to interact with the blindly aggressive stupidity you display but if you insist on a response....
You give it the big one with your arrogance of "support the club or feck off" like those of us questioning the decisions being made which impacts on the clubs identify and its future are some how lesser fans than you and the 'everything is awesome' brigade.
How far does the club have to fall before you start hearing alarm bells? How far into the depths does this once proud league club have to fall before you question the decisions of the current regime?
The difference of utilising navy blue instead of black on the home kit may be a small thing in the great scheme of things but it highlights the fact decisions are being made which do not embrace the hertigage of the club - providing an outcome of seemingly having a certain lack of interest in it. It is just another example of the corporate regime taking the heart out of the club and that (to me) is shameful and deserves an explanation.
Blind unquestioning support (however faithful it is) is a far more dangerous thing right now than a supporter who wants the very best for their club and is willing to be critical voice against anything or anybody who poses a threat to it.
Fans who ask the important questions do not deserve their loyalty to be questioned by the likes of you.

Teigngull wrote: ↑15 Jul 2018, 12:47 Last time I heard COYY, It stood for come on you YELLOWS did it not ? No mention of blue, ok it's an integral part of our colour scheme but none the less the predominant colour of our club & what makes us recognisable is the yellow, you never heard any of the shite broadcast about ' hanging heads ' ' be ashamed ' when the yellow & white stripes were brought in or back in the 60's & 70's with the predominant white shirts .
What does it matter , do you lot want a competitive winning bunch of footballers or some bunch of fancy dan good looking boys all decked out in pretty kits but - as we're used to lately - carp at football ?
Kits come & go it'll be different again next year, but for the record ,I think they're just fine.
Any chance to have a dig, isn't it ?
It's getting tiresome now, ffs support the club or feck off.

Thanks for the feedback which is welcomed. Why expect a couple of signings in the next few days? Something you heard today?dennisk wrote: ↑14 Jul 2018, 20:51 Just back from the game. An encouraging performance, especially the second half. So many new players and trialists, so it will take time to for them to blend into a team capable of a (hopefully) good season in the National League South. Expect a couple more signings in the next few days. Let's stay positive, especially as the friendlies should help go a long way towards helping Gary Owers knowing his best squad for the forthcoming season. A good day out in Dorset!

My first impressions are not particularly positive but I think it is best I keep my powder dry considering I gave Alan Knills squad the big 'watch out'!Southampton Gull wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 20:12 I have even less faith in Owers winning promotion than I did in him keeping us up. I so hope he proves me wrong but I just can't see it.
I said at the time that I thought Romain could turn out to be a good signing but he's far better than anything we've signed before or since during Owers reign.
I think warning signs are flashing with every signing announced but the other side of it is what can we expect or judge against from the regional football level we are now at.
I won't be rushing to put any money on us even being close to promotion but will be delighted if that proves to be a bad decision.

I have a feeling his distribution out from the back will make Sean McGinty look like John Stones....

I do wonder what some people on here are smoking sometimes. We sign a centre back and without even seeing him play you are suggesting we use him as a target man?!Porky wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 07:16 This new French central defender. If he's any good on the ball do you think he may be better deployed as a target man? I remember Clint boulton playing up front on occasion in the 70s.
It always worries me when they say had experience of playing in France, what league?
I played in Israel doesn't mean I was any good!
Looks like I may be seeing him in the gym!
Perhaps we should just sign someone who is actually a target man if it is needed?!
