I am not having this twisted interpretation that people are making excuses for the incident as not one post defends the action. brucie loves to manipulate things so he can return to BTPIR to curry favour but it does not impress many who can see through his sad agenda.
It seems fair to discuss what Owers has reported and how this differs from what the chap in question states (and others around him such as forever). I can also accept Owers may have intrepreted the liquid as likely to be hot as if I saw tea coming towards me it is likely that would be my immediate concern as well. What I will not accept is being told we can't discuss the differing opinions on what happened and just take Owers words as definitie. Would be a great way to run the justice system wouldn't it!

Go G.O!!
There is no justification for the behaviour witnessed on Monday. However - I too have heard (probably from the same person as SG) that this 'cup of hot coffee' was actually a small amount of cold tea. It does not make it alright but it is NOT the sensational story a face full of scolding coffee brings. The flares situation is just embarrassing and in honesty I am not sure this is in protest of the current situation and more to do with cheap cider and kids trying to act 'ARD'.
As an outcome of these events a distraction and deviation of focus has been achieved which has somewhat alleviated the pressure on the current football manager, general manager and owners of TUFC.
If you want to try to force change then do it in the right way and don't give these guys victim cards to play and please don't tarnish the reputation of the 'our' club from other fans points of view. We will need the support of the football community when the time comes.

Torquay United v Hampton & Richmond 25/08/2018
There is no getting away from the fact that was the most inept performance I have ever had the misfortune to witness at Plainmoor in the near 40 years I have been going. Owers now has 'his' team and has the nerve to suggest he needs the transfer market again to sort out what is 100% 'his' mess. He won't get sacked because he is the puppet manager GI and Harrop so badly want and he is doing a good job killing the club from the inside. Gates will drop and with it the importance of the football club. Osborne's grip at the throat of the club gets all the tighter.
Bass - must be wondering who the hell he upset at Pompey to get sent here. Did nothing wrong. 6
Wynter - Just all round abysmal. 1
Essuman - Tall yet poor in the air. Clumsy as. Terrible. 1
Cameron - Probably trying to get a train back North. Rate him and feel sorry he for him he has ended up here. Is better than us. 7
Davis - Far from his best but still better than most of the squad when playing badly. 4
Banton - Thin air made him look good. 1
Hall - Noticeable because he tried but quality sadly lacking. 3
Dickson - Had a bad game but must be wishing he kept to the first answer he gave Owers. Looked frustrated at what he and we all were witnessing. 3
Reid - Worked hard and put a shift in. One of the better players today but that is not saying much. 5
Nabi - Was he playing? Didn't notice. 1
Williams - My god where do you start. Would of been kind to give him a 1 but seeing as he left the near post corner to drift past him to the surprise of everyone in ground causing the own goal then.....0
SUBS
Keating - In fairness was the only bright spot. Did well in the incompetence around him. 7
Wright - Looks so massively unfit and uninterested. 1
Bawling - Five minutes only N/A
One thing that needs to be addressed is that 'wonderful' team spirit that has been rammed down our throats is complete 'fake news'. Anyone there will tell you that there is another survival fight on way and promotion is nothing but a fantasy unless significant changes happen (which we all know is never on agenda).

To say that was the worst half of football I have ever witnessed at Plainmoor would be being kind. They look uninterested and like a group of strangers thrown together. I can hear the laughter in the away dressing room from the bench.

The treatment of Jamie Reid is absolutely disgusting and those who are abusing need to have a long look at themselves. Clearly he is short on confidence so perhaps try supporting him when he needs it most.
It is ludicrous hounding him for not applauding the fans - to be honest I respect him for not reacting to them with all the sh1t that is thrown his way.
Why would anyone in their right mind applaud someone who is abusing them?

The match reports make encouraging reading......
The most worrying thing is Owers believes that (the 2nd half) is the best we have played all season!
The bloke spent all of last year moaning that he could not get a decent striker in as you only really gets that chance in the summer and then re-signs 3 of the 4 that could not score enough goals to keep us up last season. Genius!

Far from an Owers fan but I think we learnt trusting a manager with the summer recruitment and sacking him after 4 games is not the way to go.....

Assistant manager?
Although I am very sceptical of the current regime I do think the anger directed at the current coaches on this thread is misplaced and wholly unfair. Why would we have the right to know the names and roles of all TUFC staff? I am sure the club are not hiding it!
Picking on a person and labelling them 'fat' with no knowledge of them is also (in my view) bordering on bullying and also wholly unacceptable. I was there on Saturday and the person being talked about is not fat as described and it caused zero any concerns in my mind that he was out helping with the pre-match warm-up. Would it not be of more concern if the players were warming up with no direction or plan?

Torquay United v East Thurrock United 11/08/18
MacDonald - 6.5
Fantastic save in the second half but what was going on first half with his (non) quick distribution? When the penny dropped second half we flowed much better as a team. Three clean sheets in a row for him.
Wynter - 6.5
Some decent attacks down the right but distribution in the final third lacking threat. Solid enough defensively.
Sokolik - 6.5
Solid and distribution was OK out of defence. Hopefully the injury is not more knee issues.
Niate - 7
Imposing player and was solid. His distribution was also better than I expected. Horses for courses and he seems very suited for what we will be facing much of this year.
Cameron - 7
I liked what I saw from him. Defensively sound, very decent distribution and vocal in organising. Seems like a really good find.
Davis - 7.5
Streets ahead of this level of football. He made a few mistakes today but far and away our most threatening player. Amazed he did not have a better option than us.
Hall - 5.5
Does the ugly things well and therefore an essential part of the midfield but yesterday his passing was woeful. Hopefully just an off day on that side of things.
Dickson - 7.5
Indifferent first half but second half ran the midfield with complete class. A real coup and I doubt there will be a better quality of player than him in the division.
Nabi - 6.5
Tidy player but seemed to take one touch too many at times. Did the full ninety and has more to come.
Williams - 4.5
Not a good showing today. Often frustrating player to watch. Should have scored after 2 mins and in the second half took too long trying to get a shot off instead of a simple pass to Nabi for a tap in. We need more from him than that.
Keating - 7
A real confidence player. Average until he got the first goal and then very good after that. Gives 100% which Brett could learn from. Really pleased for him and hopefully the boost he needs.
SUBS:
Reid - 6
Not much time to show anything and nothing of note to report.
Regis - 6
Similar to Reid. Big fella so could be utilised as a target man should the need arise.
Banton - 6.5
Only had a few minutes but looked a threat in the small amount of time on the pitch.
OVERALL:
Very sluggish first half and lucky to go in ahead. Much better in the second half but wasted many open opportunities by over complicating things when a simple final ball was all that was required. East Thurrock were there for the taking in the second half yesterday and we should of won by 4 or 5. Points wise a great start to the season but we need to sharpen up for us to continue this return percentage (especially upfront).

NEW SIGNING: Andre Wright
Really pleased with this signing. A lot of potential first time round and looked the part in a division above so if we can get the best out of him then he will be a massive plus for us.

Chris Regis - new signing
Feel a bit for James Roberts - reports wise he seemed to do ok whilst on trial but I suspect his goalscoring record has not helped him. Hope he gets a club sorted. I guess the two other midfielders were lined up in case the Regis deal fell through (a harsh truth of football is to always have a plan B).CP Gull wrote: ↑01 Aug 2018, 15:32 Think Regis has got the 20 shirt - not sure if Olaf has a squad number as he was with us before squad numbers were announced but not allocated one.
My impression through speaking to Gary Owers last night is that its unlikely any of those trialists mentioned will be offered deals.
Hopefully the incoming striker deal is completed and he has the ability to put the ball in the net as I think we are short of goals currently.
