Re: Port Vale v Torquay United - 1/9/12

I would very much rather see McKenzie play than start shifting other players and having 2 or 3 players out of position. McKenzie is a centre back, and he's been given a deal for a reason. Let's see if he's good enough, there's certainly not much pressure on him, and it will be better for him to play than to watch someone out of position play there. If he doesn't do well, then he certainly can't complain if he's overlooked next time.
It also makes sense as it's only a 1 match suspension, so there is little point in signing someone on loan, as Downes will almost certainly step straight back in next week.

Re: Academy and Focus on Youth

It certainly doesn't hurt to see Niall in the team, and Kirtys McKenzie/Ashley Yeoman on the bench. Gives all the adacemy and YTS boys an achievable goal, and players to aspire towards.

But there was a reason he only played 1 game for us, and yes, the disappearing Icelander was also dreadful!!!

Re: Team of the Week

It's a shame Paul Jarvie didn't play in League 2, as he would've had the award for 'worst keeper ever to play in L2' sewn up for eternity!

Re: Accomodation.....Wimbledon away

Cheers Andy.

I think the travelodge is a good shout, as I didn't really want to carry my stuff all over London after the game.

Accomodation.....Wimbledon away

I am looking to stay in the area after the Wimbledon game on 18th September, and am looking for any capital based gulls to recommend somewhere to stay, either in the Kingston or Wimbledon area.

The 2nd option I have is travelling to Heathrow after the game and staying there, although I have no idea how easy/cheap it would be to get there.

Cheers guys...

Re: Use of the loan market.

Jake got on well with the majority of the squad, but this may not matter anyway. He had a trial under Lingy last January, which didn't end up in a loan offer, so you would assume he's not a player that interests our management.

Re: Memory Game

Anthony Lloyd was a small midfielder, and Nathan Abbey the goalkeeper who got a 6 month contract until January, and then we decided not to bother offering him a deal beyond.

Re: derby games

I would say it is City. Not even a chance Argyle would take precident over them.

An mentioned before, we beat Argyle twice last season, and have unfinished business with City. However, I would rather wait and beat them where it really matters, in a knockout situation, as that is why their win at Plainmoor really hurts...

Matt.

I'm off travelling Matt, heading to Australia to live and work in Melbourne for a while, before going North to do my bit for the Australian farming community in order to get a 2nd year visa. Plan is then to mooch round the Gold Coast for a few months, although most of that is subject to being shifted around if the mood takes me!

Would also like to take in the States as I know a mate over there, and also Canada to Ski in Banff for a season.

Thanks for all the advice. I was hoping to avoid taking a laptop, but it would appear this may be the best way of keeping in touch with most people, and of course TUFC. I have a pretty old and battered laptop, so that may be the thing to take.

Help from Gulls exiled abroad.......

I am moving abroad in a months time, and in order to keep in touch with things at Plainmoor, I am intending to subscribe to Gulls Player to listen in to games.

Is there any particular platform that is needed to play it, or can I get it through an iPhone? I don't really fancy having to buy a laptop to take with me, but would consider an iPad or other tablet if it works on that format?

All help is greatly received...
