With ongoing thanks to Gulliball (but with no thanks to away fans!) I see that the average is now above that of Leroy's season in league 1, standing at 3,580. I know that the season isn't over but when did we last better that?exilegull wrote: 04 Dec 2024, 17:54 Just been looking at the average attendance, currently standing at 3,330 - currently on track for the highest average attendance in 20 years when the club had a season in League 1 under Leroy (average 3,511). Only once since then has the average exceed 3,000 - in 07/08 in Buckle's first season in the conference when the average was 3,171 and that was boosted by the full house against Exeter.
Its a tremendous response from the town and hopefully this energy can be maintained.

Torquay United v Truro, Wednesday 1st January 2025.
5,135 lots of space in the Babbacombe end and gaps elsewhere so could have been even more.

Over 5,000 expected and I'll be busy as everybody for the Babbacombe end is asked to come to gate 5!

Average attendance
There is also a debate on attendances on Beyond the Penn Inn Roundabout and, as I've used Gulliball's data, I quote:
This from Merse:
We ended 2018-19 season with an average home (attendance) of 2,551...way short of today's current average which is 3,327 and was a quarter higher than Woking who were the next best supported side in the NLS in that season.
This from me:
The average from and including Welling just before Christmas 2018 was 3,127 (based on data collected by and with thanks to Gulliball) which included a bumper 5,297 for the last game anticlimax.
In fact only the two Christmas and New Year attendances plus the last two of that season were over 3,000! All the rest were in the 1,000's and 2,000's and the lowest was, wait for it, against Hemel Hempstead with just 1,409 (inc 70 away fans) in attendance. That was in the fourth home match so it wasn't on a cold Tuesday night in February.
The difference this season is optimism from the first match!

Have I missed something or has nobody got excited about the club advert for a Head of Operations at a salary of £45-50k?

Bryn Consortium Take-Over
It was indeed a long time ago and there were two separate opportunities over the years for fans to buy shares. Many of them have now passed away so the register of addresses must be a nightmare to update. As I have a (very) small amount of shares I was recently given an opportunity to vote on the 'CVA'. Obviously my tiny fraction of the 7% swung it as the resolution was accepted and here we are today as a result!CornishGull wrote: 01 Jun 2024, 15:14 The issue of the 7% of share holdings was decades before the TUST was formed.
These shares are nothing to do with TUST (at the moment) but I think it could be possible for individuals to transfer their (or their forebear's) shares to a common cause such as TUST.

In my excitement I set up the header as Company Secretary but I've just bumped into Jon (at Sainsbury's of all places) and he has confirmed that his job will be Club Secretary which has its own job description. He is upbeat!

Yes, did the Administrator actually mean that or was it repetition of a common error? Perhaps they did mean it!wbw wrote: 31 May 2024, 12:37 And you missed the line that said

Jon was in at the start of TUST and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of TU history. He's also a nice guy (and he is or was a Pop-sider).

Well done, I was in the same art classes as him at TBGS and he was always getting top marks. He now has two Oscars and I haven't got any. On reflection, he could have been our own Hollywood connection. Ah well.

I'm a happy bunny deep down, and, as I voted for the winning away kit choice, I'll probably wear that to games home or away!
(So far nobody has connected that film with Torquay)
