Aldershot have Yeovil, Scunthorpe & Altringham at home.
Eastleigh & York away.
If they win two of their three home games and lose at Eastleigh that gives them 49 plus whatever they get at York.
So both York & Aldershot may have 49 plus whatever they get from the game between them.
In that case the 49 or 50 points would be the target for us, plus one for goal difference. So 5 wins or 4 wins and one or two draws.

York have to play Chesterfield & Notts Co. so we’d hope they lose them.
Us which we have to win.
Halifax which they may well win and Aldershot which if they win it will deny Aldershot points. Both are home.
So they may well get 6 more points which would mean 52 which even with 5 wins we wouldn’t overtake them.

Will we stay up?
We need to overtake two of Yeovil, Gateshead, York and Aldershot.
With Yeovil’s fixtures I can see them only picking up 6 more points which would take them to 44.
I’ve looked at fixtures for York, Gateshead & Aldershot And strangely my predicted results has all three of them finishing on 50 points but the result of the York v Aldershot game would have a big impact on that. I’ve said York win but if it was a draw that would take York down to 48 points.
We have 37 points but the worst goal difference.
5 wins with 52 points and we should be safe.
4 and 49 we might.
4 and a draw or two, hopefully enough.

Yeovil one nil down and down to ten men with a few minutes to go.
That will make a huge difference to us if Southend hold on.

Great result.
We need Southend to win at Yeovil this evening. That will make a huge difference as Yeovil & York look to be the teams we’ve got the best chance of overtaking.

Will we stay up?
After losing to Dagenham but beating Boreham Wood we’re probably as well of as could have been expected before these two games.
It was generally thought that to have a reasonable chance of staying up we needed to win 5 or 6 of the last 9 games. With Dorking & Gateshead picking up two wins each it would seem to be 6 wins needed. So now 5 from 7 games.
5 wins would take us to 49 points but with one of the worst goal differences would even that be enough?
Assuming one of the wins is against Scunthorpe we’d almost certainly finish above them.
We’d then need to overtake two of Yeovil, Gateshead, Dorking, Aldershot or York.
(Maidenhead on 47 points are also an outside chance as they have to play us and looking at their other fixtures they could potentially fail to win any.)
It’s hard to work out likely points for the others as there are a lot of games between them.
Yeovil (38 points) have two relegation rivals to play and other games include Boreham Wood & Wrexham.
Gateshead (40 points) still have 9 to play, one of which is still to be arranged, so at some point they’ll probably need to play on a Thursday with 3 games in a week. They have to play 3 of the other bottom sides (plus Maidenhead).
Dorking (43 points) have to play Yeovil & Gateshead and finish home to Scunthorpe who will probably already be relegated by then.
Aldershot (43 points) only have 6 games which include Yeovil, Scunthorpe & York.
York (43 points) have only 6 games, including us & Aldershot, but also Chesterfield & Notts County.
Gateshead & Dorking have found a bit of form but the others are poor / inconsistent.
I think we may need 5 wins and a draw from the last 7 games.
Scunthorpe is yet another must win. Win that and we can start to think there’s an outside hope.

The least believable part of that is that we win at Boreham Wood.GULL 67 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2023, 22:47 1-0 win. 2-1 win at Scunny end up needving a win v Wrexham. Losing until the last 10 mins when Wrexham fans start a fight on the Pop. Police involved and and a Police dog accidently bites the knackers off Mullins. In a state of shock Wrexham collapse, Torquay win 2-1, Reynolds leaves Wrexham and takes over at Plainmoor. Message me and I’ll see what I can doeddie6817 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2023, 20:57 Yes l am genuine geez l haven't been to a home game as I've been out of the UK for 12 years. In saying that due to my age I've probably attended more home games than a lot of you younger fellas. Anyone here attend our 8-3 annihilation of Newport County many moons ago l remember that one well. So to put matters straight no I'm not a Wrexham fan in disguise even though l may have a slight American accent after these many years. Still hoping l may get hold of a ticket.

As a season ticket holder I can get extra tickets and don’t mind helping out genuine Torquay fans but they’d need to prove the support us and explain why they have t been to a home match in the last two years.
