Braintree’s players were no better than ours but they were organised, committed, vocal, had a plan and team spirit and put pressure on the referee; all things that we weren’t.
The game was like Hereford – we could have played for a week and still not scored.
The blame lies with the manager and beyond that with the owner for persisting with him when every other club would have made a change a long time ago.

Braintree v Torquay Sat 17th Feb 2024
We’re not going down. We’ve got virtually enough points to stay up already - and still have to play Taunton twice where we’ll surely get some points.Minneapolisgull wrote: ↑16 Feb 2024, 14:23 Survival In this league is the priority!
We have sunk so low! I have given up any hope!
Braintree 3-1 Torquay
But more to the point, lose tomorrow and we’ll be between 5 and 8 points off the play offs (more likely 8), having played a game more.
So defers tomorrow and the season is virtually over - bar the protests.

Taunton Town.
Surely it would make sense to move our game v Truro to Plainmoor.

Maybe an artificial / hybrid pitch at Plainmoor would be part of making a phoenix club viable. (or better still the current TUFC but with owners who want it for football not property).
Talk of what we do at a new ground is of little relevance if Osborne doesn't build one and he's never managed that yet.

Win this and we'll move above Braintree in the league!
Nothing from the Club tickets yet but looking on their website it suggests just turn up at the ground and pay £15 in the old way.

I'm exactly the same.TommyGunn wrote: ↑14 Feb 2024, 08:39 I have always said that I hate plastic pitches. But I'm becoming an old fart now. Recently I have been looking around at those clubs that do have them. The community benefits the grants available and I'm thinking they are very beneficial to smaller clubs. Ladies football, youth football, schools all can use the same pitch. Galvanising those people who could become new fans of the main club. Maybe I need to change?
If a plastic pitch made it easier for the club (not owned by Osborne) to be sustainable at Plainmoor I would consider it now.
But of course it would have to go if we ever get back into the Football League.

What's the chances of this being on?
Travelling from Essex and I have to cancel my hotel (for third time) by 1pm tomorrow if it's off.
Forecast for Taunton is sunny & dry today, showers (a few heavy) and sun tomorrow daytime (Met Office) or light rain (BBC) and dry in the evening (both).

The Play Offs
If the owner wanted us to make the play offs he would sack Johnson but even with a change in manager the best we're likely to get is 6th or 7th and as you say then winning three away games is very unlikely.

Sorry, I was hopelessly optimistic.
What a sorry state of affairs when we can't even match the likes of Slough, Aveley and Braintree.

The Play Offs
I'm going to be optimistic.
Tuesday's performance at Maidstone was a turning point.
We will beat Slough today.
We still have two games against Taunton which really ought to be 6 points and both Aveley & Hampton to play at home.
We have played 7 of our 8 games against the top four.
We will qualify for the play offs - winning them with a finish that isn't 2nd or 3rd is another matter.

Truro Away - Now at Taunton - ? Date
Announcement from Truro today that due to state of Plymouth Parkway pitch they will play their remaining home games this season at Taunton.
They don't mention our game on 27th Feb but as Taunton are scheduled to play Weston Super Mare at home that day I assume a new date will be needed.
Taunton's pitch isn't much better so not sure that will cope with the extra fixtures. Presumably Torquay weren't willing to let them use Plainmoor.

Football's Coming Home back to Truro, and back to Cornwall this summer for Truro City Football Club, but before it does, we must communicate an important update on home fixtures for the remainder of the current Vanarama National League South campaign.
As you are aware, unfortunately we have not been able to play a number of home fixtures at Bolitho Park this season. In the circumstances, we have made the decision to move our remaining home games this season away from Bolitho Park.
Truro City’s home games for the last months of the 23-24 campaign will take place at Wordsworth Drive, home of Taunton Town Football Club.
Our match against Eastbourne Borough will now take place this coming Saturday, February, 10, at Wordsworth Drive. The home fixture next Tuesday, February 13, against Dover Athletic will not take place on this date, and will be rescheduled to a date to be confirmed, later in the season.
This decision to move was not made lightly, and we recognise that in some ways it makes it even more difficult for our incredibly loyal supporters to be with us in our last matches outside Cornwall.
However, we consider that this temporary arrangement will help the club to best meet our remaining match day commitments for this season.
With such a momentous return home now confirmed for this summer, our time and energy away from the pitch is focused on making the imminent move to our brand-new facility at Langarth the best it can possibly be, for you, our fans, as well as for our players and staff.
The club would like to place on record our considerable thanks to the National League for their support since the takeover. We’d also like to thank Taunton Town, who have generously allowed us to see out our last few months in exile at their storied facility.
In the coming weeks, we will have more news to bring you regarding our return to Truro, but in the meantime, we are committed to finishing the season as strongly as possible and building for an incredibly bright future.
At home, in Truro, in Cornwall, where we belong.
