New player: Jakub Sokolik
Don't know anything about him but seems as good a calibre of player as we could've hoped for in the circumstances. League experience, 20 league apps for Plymouth.

Great win and much-needed. Wasn't there so no idea how debatable their free-kick scramble was but we've definitely been due a bit of luck.
On an amusing note, the Press Association's match reporter definitely isn't an Ebbsfleet season ticket holder...

I thought all handballs outside the box by GKs were red cards? Or is it only if it denies a goalscoring chance?apgull wrote: 21 Oct 2017, 22:02 Also hope the “handball” from their keeper is in the highlights because I’m keen to see it again. Certainly looked like he’d left his area. Wouldn’t have been a red though, as some are saying.

Might be wrong but wasn't he one of the players on Nico's 'maybe' list, who were offered a new contract but on lower wages?gullintwoplaces wrote: 17 Sep 2017, 10:54 I agree and was equally baffled when we let him go. He looked a decent player when he had settled into the team.

Profiled him a couple of months ago for the Highway to Hele 'Where are they now?' (issue 12). Great character.

Torquay v Chester. 2/9/17 Match day thread
Worrying how easily influenced the officials at this level seem to be by players. Neither ref nor linesman sees the need to stop for the high boot in the build up...only when the linesman's been surrounded by Chester players does he 'remember' it was a high boot :whip:
Looks like a much better performance from the highlights. Just gutted we couldn't hold on cause that would've done wonders for morale.

Having seen the weird videos Sol puts on Twitter I wouldn't really want to trust him with a desperately struggling, low-confidence group of players. And as others have said, now's not the time to take a risk on a completely untried manager - get someone in who has experience in this sort of situation and then reassess if we stay up.

DEADLINE DAY MADNESS - 3 SIGNINGS!
Good news, desperately needed some cover.
And if you wanted to watch a 25-minute vlog from new left-back Chinua Cole's trip to Bali, guess what? You can! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC_Ar4PrWcM&app=desktop

Some good insight here into why Cox resigned: http://www.nwemail.co.uk/sport/barrow-a ... 9b095a-ds
Looks like it was frustration at not having new signings (they haven't been able to fill the bench), and possibly also only being told about a director of football being appointed after it had happened.
Not sure how I'd feel about him coming back. He's an experienced manager at this level, which is what we need, so in that regard it would be a better appointment than an ex-player, but another experienced NL manager without previous here would be preferable I think.

Thoughts:
Richards and Hurst are very good.
Heslop is the midfield MacDonald with slightly more ability.
MacDonald's not worth the trouble he'll get us into with his hotheadedness.
Hard to see where out and out wingers like Murombedzi fit into our formation - maybe it's time to play a more attacking system at home and save the wing back formation for away games.

Pretty sure Cox got sent off for dissent after substitution-gate - a more officious and unnecessary piece of refereeing you will not find.
Looked like the bench wanted to take Briscoe off (understandably, given he doesn't look built to last 90 mins) but put up Fisher's number instead; when the fourth official tried to change the number to amend his error Huxtable said no and forced Fisher to go off.
We were shite anyway but he didn't help.
