Re: Formation Tomorrow

Sorry, yes i know my spelling is not great. I think you are missing my point. Selecting Danny can provide us better ball retention. What is the point of dancing around 2-3 players then loosing the ball!!
Just my opinion

Re: Formation Tomorrow

Hi Luke

It causes much debate this selection. I like Bodin and on his day he can be brilliant and yes i have been there watching Stephens being totally in affective however i would like them to hold on to the ball better, I am also not sure what Bodins best position is. Bodin has given the ball away far to easily of late and he may be a better impact player coming off the bench.

Re: Formation Tomorrow

Hi Jeff

That was my toughest decision to be fair, my reason for playing Stephens was simply for pace running at there full backs, i dont like him cutting in all the time but i think its slightly more attacking in the wide area over Bodin. He also hasnt given the ball away as much as Bodin and i want more possession.

Re: Formation Tomorrow

I tend to agree with some of whats previously been wrote regarding formations.

Firstly

I thinks its crucial that when Poke gets the ball his quick distribution to the full back/wide player is paramount. It firstly provides us with possession to counter attack. Bobby O and Potter when he played were masters of this and it was a big part of our game.

I really like Nico, however hes being exposed too much and Cruise would be the obvious replacement. Leadbitter has been the one of the only positive selections of late so he would start for me. Downes and Saah would remain at the back. Mansell would be my holding midfield player. Nathan Craig has to play in the centre next to Mansell. Stephens would play on the left and Macklin wide right.

Now this i think is the important bit. Howe would play a little deeper and linking the play (TO FEET NOT IN THE AIR). This would drag their defence all over the place. Benyon would play up front doing what he does best on the shoulder of the last defender. Playing like this would create space for Benyon to run the channels and Howe to link with our wide players.

This is not major surgery, its about playing to our current strengths and utilizing what we already have. Port Vale will not expect Howe to come deeper.

Thats how i would play, if it all goes wrong can someone bring a film to watch on the big screen!!!

Re: Alan Knill - CONFIRMED

This is what interests me

‘’He also has very good contacts and during his time with Bury, he built up a good relationship with Manchester United and Everton. It would be no surprise to see some loan players come in to help us out.

Re: Will Rene last the season

I cant see him with us next season, contract is up and he must be completely fed up with the way the team is set up. He is a nice lad, spoke to him a few times and he really likes the area and has settled down with his family.
I would put money on another booking this weekend!!

Right now i would quite frankly take the "Pope" until the end of the season! I suppose he was at Aldershot last night also.

Re: The sooner we get a coach in the better...

Is it me but i cant find anything positive from Keith Curle's previous managerial or coaching career posts??
Interestingly, i have heard from a good source that training is and has been very easy under the current coaching staff, in fact the players have named it " Butlins"!
Over the weekend i spoke with an ex pro who worked under Graham Westerley, his experience of GW coaching was very good, organised and double-triple sessions!!Maybe that's whats needed?

Re: Lloyd Macklin

I agree tufcbrett, Mansell, Lathrope and Craig E can do that job easily, i dont think its all out attack when you play with attacking full backs, it appears to be that the modern full back can raid down the wings and provide an extra dimension. We need an extra 10% out of each player, we have been so slow and predictable when attacking, this option is positive and we need something new

Re: Lloyd Macklin

The first game of last years pre-season away at Tiverton Town I watched Leadbitters first game at right back with Macklin playing right wing and they were both unplayable, Leadbitter was raiding down the wing and Macklin was providing great crosses. I know you will all say the quality of opposition wasnt great however i came away thinking that this has the POTENTIAL for a great attacking right hand side. Since that game injuries and team selection have curtailed that option until now.
These two are direct players with great pace and we are not providing service to Howe or Jarvis etc. Cruise arrived from a great academy setup and was highly thought of, why are we not giving him a try. Nico is being constantly exposed. Nathan Craig is a creative left footed midfielder, lets play him there!
I am also getting fed up with predictable far post corners and set pieces, can we not think of something else. Its not exactly hard for teams to do there home work on us.
I dont always agree with experience, we need to score goals and win games and be positive.
