Re: Morecambe v Torquay United - League Two - 21/1/12

Gazzableedsgull - I'm from the Cookridge area of Leeds. Strictly speaking Farsley are my local team and it was very surreal actually going to Throstle Nest to watch the gulls play there a couple of years back. Apart from those couple of years, Guiseley have always been the pre-eminent non-league club in Leeds

Re: Morecambe v Torquay United - League Two - 21/1/12

Great opportunity to put some distance between us and our rivals in the next 2 home games, especially as next Saturday sees Accrington v Gillingham and Burton v Oxford..

Oxford drawing and Gillingham losing today is a real bonus.

Sidenote stat...
AFC Wimbledon's comeback looks impressive but my (previous) local team Guiseley AFC in the BSN won 4-3 after being 3-0 down at half time and until 77 mins!

Re: January transfer window . . .

austrianandygull wrote:What is surprising is the fact that Bodin has now gone back to Swindon and there is debate about him coming back. As both Ling and Di Canio knew the window was coming and it appears that no prior arrangement has been made then i would assume that he is staying at Swindon. Why would he go back to Swindon only to come back again? This deal could have been extended with mutual agreement long before the opening of the window and the fact it has not leads me to believe that Billy ain't returning. In Martin we trust but it would be nice to be linked with someone because if nobody comes in we are going to struggle in the striking department. I have faith in Martin!
Andy, we were trying to bring him back in but Di Canio wanted to bring him back to Swindon to take a look at him for a couple of weeks before making a decision on whether to let him go again.

Rovers 3-1 down at home to Crewe.

I suspect Buckle has 55 minutes to save his job

Not sure I ever disagreed with you - I just found the phrase financial clout associated with Torquay to be very unusual

The club undoubtedly gave Buckle a potential conference winning budget.

Re: Ling v Buckle

SG - I'm not sure the phrase 'financial clout' has ever been used in the past and will ever be used in the future when referring to Torquay United!

Do you think(know?) we had more than Luton and Oxford? Stockport also this season seemed to make some noteworthy signings suggesting some backing.

But generally I agree he was given substantial resources for the conference together with a virtual clean slate in the first season as we only had 4 players.

Still as has been seen many times before money does not guarantee success. However, I believe we should have been promoted in the first season.
