Nicholson sacked 17/08

I feel sorry for Nicho as he is a fan as well as a former manager, I hope we see him at the games but also hope he gets a good offer elsewhere. I can't imagine not seeing my team TUFC week in week out come rain or shine (ok it has been raining a lot lately metaphorically speaking) but you still want to see them regardless of the result!

SACK NICHOLSON!!

sgf, ok, put aside location as an obstacle, Nicho still managed to build a side that kept us in the NL at a critical time in the clubs long proud history, yes it hurts to see, it hurts to see any football league club to be in such dire situations, brought about by bad management mostly, so even if we changed the manager (which I don't agree with as I feel Nicho is good albeit still learning but certainly has the makings of a good one given the time and resources) there is no guarantee as we all know. I say give him a bit longer at a time where the club certainly looks more stable, the gate with Tranmere was huge relatively speaking in recent times which just shows that the fans are still there and are still prepared to hand over there hard earned cash and want to be entertained, with the benefit of this income the board will be prepared to give more, small steps.....

SACK NICHOLSON!!

So managers have done better on less budgets? not 150 miles away from London that's for sure, Nicho has produced a miracle seasons past with young inexperienced players that found themselves in an almost dead and finished situation, he managed to make teams out of them that looked pretty handy especially last season. Now he has been provided a bit more financial help, learned along the way and now has a side with a lot more maturity and power from the outset which will (if you just give them a chance) come good without any doubt so don't write him off already ffs. we have had a tough start to the season with a side that have not really gelled yet but will do and it will start Tuesday 3-0. so, there you go!

SACK NICHOLSON!!

Nicho is a good manager and has and is doing a great job under the constraints in place, I knew it wouldn't take long for the doom mongers to start out ffs, its pathetic, I am looking forward to hearing these same pessimists eat humble pie when we are at the top end of the table, and when next season another club are coming in for Nicho! It will happen! Nicho has a good side here and that will show very soon!

A Call to Arms

standupsitdown wrote: 27 Mar 2017, 09:33 We have a month to save Torquay United.

History shows that once the likes of GI get their hands on a football ground there is a very high risk that a promised new ground won’t be built. A new ground may or not be helpful in the long term but if GI get the freehold of Plainmoor we can expect to be homeless soon and the club dead soon after.

The future of our club rests with the council and mayor. We need a concerted campaign so that they can see strength of feeling to save Plainmoor. They must understand that if they sell the land they are signing the club’s death warrant – the end of more than 100 years of history.

Talk of a phoenix club is irrelevant without Plainmoor. Anything other than a regional league club wouldn’t be viable.

Relegation would play into GI’s hands. The players are putting up a fight on the pitch. Fans need to do the same off it. Forget talk of boycotts for now, we must get behind the team.

We need all fans to understand the gravity of the situation and to take action. We need the media to publicise what is going on and ensure the council understands the consequences of agreeing to sell.

So what is to be done? Some suggestions -

Turn up in numbers for the remaining home & away games and support the players with passion for 90 minutes.
A concerted campaign of publicity and action.
Get media coverage – Herald Express, Western Morning News. Local radio & TV.
Get a ‘SAVE PLAINMOOR Save Torquay United’ banner made (as a focal point for publicity).
Distribute leaflets explaining the true situation and urging people to contact councillors.
Another petition – a paper one to be signed at matches and in the town.
Demonstrate outside the Town Hall (with publicity).
Talk to the Football Supporters' Federation.

Can the Trust coordinate a campaign?
Some funds will be needed. Does the Trust’s constitution allow them to spend funds on this sort of thing?

Living in Essex I’m limited in what I can do but I’m coming down for the Chester game and am willing to pay for and help hand out say 1500 leaflets on Saturday if someone can organise printing locally.
I'm involved with the FSF and am happy to talk to them.

If we don’t organise now and fight to save Torquay United we will be accepting that this is the end of professional football in Torquay.
"The future of our club rests with the council and mayor." if it wasn't such a sad state of affairs this is exactly what I would do.

God help us! the council are so desperate for money, most is wasted on bureaucracy, they are all so incompetent looking after their own selfish interests, doing as little as they have to for as much as they can! they couldn't give a monkeys about football, and even less about the people of this town, they would sell it in a heart beat, they have strict orders from government to build build build, they don't care about what the people need to keep them semi satisfied with the quality of life. They wont be happy until we are all sat in our own houses watching jeremy kyle taking drugs to keep us sedated then topping ourselves, they don't care about any of us, all they are interested in is lining their own pockets and getting a nice little retirement package and then they will get the hell out. utter shysters giving lip service. just saying it as it
is! the fans need to take back their team, take control, the FANS are the ones who have the best intentions, and from the heart which is what such situations require, it won't be driven by profit only to be wasted outside of football, any profit would be reinvested back in to the team and where it is needed. there wouldn't be any back handers or back scratching. God bless the fans we have been well and truly screwed, I agree with getting behind the team but their is definitely some mileage with regard to protesting in one way or another.

Yeah, he also said that we were poor and that this fixture was Southport's best chance out of the whole division to get 3 points... Says it all.

FFS... The cash they take through the turnstiles is not the same that they publish. If you think otherwise you are frukin naive. Now wake up, it's called tax avoidance... Or is that evasion... Either way apparently it's wrong and you can get into trouble! Southport is in Liverpool area. Derrrr

Should Nicholson be sacked

SenorDingDong wrote: 07 Mar 2017, 18:45 If we're not going to spend to sustain our National League status what makes anyone think that GI will support the club rebuilding in the Conference South where we will struggle to maintain our professional status and crowds will likely collapse further? Sustainable or not, if GI aren't going to spend now or at least roll the dice then this is very indicative of how they're going to run us. It'll cost them more in the long run to get back up from the South than throwing £30/40k at the playing squad now.

If they let us drop down into the South without any action it's clear their long game is to con the council out of the freehold, not to build a stadium with a sustainable healthy anchor tenant.
Due to the amount of games left it is becoming very apparent as to GI's motives although many on here worked it out a long time ago, I for one was prepared to give GI the benefit of the doubt unfortunately it appears I for one was wrong. What's more worrying is all the people that are currently receiving payment for their services are doing exactly what they are told and for as long as they can by a group of owners who are inexperienced in football and have an ulterior motive/agenda. All to the detriment of our team and there is sweet fa we can do........I do believe however that the fans will win in the end as we are here for ever, and GI are here until they can't squeeze any profit out of it. if the fans stop going then GI won't make a cent. not much future in that!

Unless the new owners are hatching a massive spending plan and they are going to give us a really nice surprise soon? sadly I feel that they are probably not and if they are not it just goes to show that they have complete and utter contempt for all us fans and watching us all get frustrated from afar, They got the club by default in the end, I guess C/O to be fair has stated that it is going to be a sustainable rebuild, in other words we are going down and are going to start afresh in the next league down, lets be honest they are not going to spend a penny now, its too late and they have resigned to the fact that the team will do what they can and that's that. It's fairly clear and we have to read between the lines from that osbourne statement. like it or lump it nothing more complicated than that. sadly......

No. Just for interest, who do you suggest takes over? To be fair Nicho is carrying out nothing short of a miracle in what he has to create in readiness for a match. The owners need to be questioned, which they have been but seem not to be interested which is baffling, however, time may tell. IMO I think this thread is completely irrelevant and not going to prove anything.
