tufcyellowarmy wrote: 31 Dec 2017, 05:28 We may have dominated in th Aldershot game but we are at home and should expect to do that in most games .
It further suggests that we were in some way unlucky in not winnng the game.
You haven’t mentioned the Maidstone 4 nil hammering we took at home in the trophy. That game given our predicament was every bit as important to us purely to somehow build some form and confidence.

We weren’t great against Gateshead and we were lucky with the 90th minute equaliser.
We were expected to dominate when playing the top of the table team?! I suggest you have a screw loose mate.

As for Maidstone, I didnt include because most of us couldn't care less about a cup game right now.

My point still stands that we were better than you are giving credit for.

Away from home I can’t comment on our performances other than the points record under OWERS and kuhl.
Is it 17 games and 17 points or something like that.
Sliding into the abyss I’m afraid.
Last 3 league home games:
Torquay 3 - 0 Leyton Orient - Battered them
Torquay 0 - 0 Aldershot - We dominated
Torquay 1 - 1 Gateshead - Not best game but battled and got a late equaliser

I disagree with your summary that it's been between mediocre and shite.

Away from home we have not been that good at all since the brilliant Sutton performance.

That's neither here nor there. The fact that is that both are clear racist abuse. It's not moaning about every little thing being construed in some way or another as being racist. It IS racist.
racism
ˈreɪsɪz(ə)m/Submit
noun
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
"a programme to combat racism"
synonyms: racial discrimination, racialism, racial prejudice/bigotry, xenophobia, chauvinism, bigotry, bias, intolerance; More
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
"theories of racism"

It isn't racist, they are purely looking for a fight or trying to be hard men when they are not.

gullintwoplaces wrote: 30 Dec 2017, 20:55 So who has suggested that “nothing should be done” about monkey noises? Nobody at all, monkey noises are a disgusting form of racism.

The idiotic nonsense about Zebroski is symptomatic of stupidity and ignorance, but not in the same league as monkey chanting. Yes of course stupidity and ignorance should be challenged, and NOBODY has said stand by and do nothing, but please keep a sense of proportion.

I really don’t like the tone of this comment, the sanctimonious finger pointing insinuating that anybody is racist who doesn’t think that that the Zebroski chant is anything other than stupidity. This is symptomatic of where things are going in Britain now, the “if you’re not with us you’re against us” school of politics.

Where do you think clubs like Dagenham, Boreham Wood and Bromley get them from?
I would argue being located near London helps attract players somewhat but I get the point.

Teigngull wrote: 30 Dec 2017, 20:21 This is all part of C O's plan , relegation means less interest from supporters once they start missing games it's damn hard to entice them back, I should know back in '88 there was a hardcore of around 8 of us from the Teignmouth Shaldon area who all went together week in week out now its only me the rest have better things to do with their time & money (their words not mine), anyway, less interest means less aggro so it's easier to wind the club down, we're down to 1400 gates now & it's not even the end of the year, the club is bring killed off right before your eyes people but some of you are still that deluded in thinking the sorry situation is salvageable . it's not.TUFC are going down with a whimper .
Whilst I can see your point, you are being overly dramatic and claiming things that don't actually exist.

"We are down to 1400 gates now". We have had 2 1400 gates. 1 was the first weekend of September and 1 was Gateshead in December which was a Tuesday night when gates are usually a little lower. We have had a 1500 gate once which was Maidenhead (they brought barely any fans, Tuesday night again and the M5 and A303 were screwed up royally). Apart from that, all home gates have been 1700+ in the league. Figures quoted from https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/torq ... ttendances and verified on the BBC website.

Even if your point about smaller gates = smaller voice was accurate, which it is not, there are plenty of fans still going who will NEVER give up and continue to shout as loud as possible to ensure our club remains.

4 subs mate. Higgins not involved again, 2 defenders on suspensions.

Plainmoor78 wrote: 30 Dec 2017, 13:15 Have to agree with this. There has been a very slow but noticeable reoccurrence of hooliganism raising its ugly head again in football. If we chose to be complacent about it like many of the contributors on here then before we know it going to a football match will become a very unpleasant experience like it was at some grounds in the 1970s and 80s.
Care to back up your inflammatory remark that we are complacent regarding hooliganism? Do you have proof that we have been complacent on here?

You state that race is characterised as an ethnic group. Given these two things then the term Polish was used in an ethnic and racist sense.
Whilst you have made a fair point re ethnicity, the fact remains that racism is defined as enforcing your superiority over a person from another race. That was not done here though was it? What we have is an idiot whose outburst was nothing more than a dumbass remark.

Eastleigh racism

Just to add my voice into this, I heard neither the comment or any other abuse during the game. I was stood at the back of the stand. In terms of "Polish ####" being racist, I am struggling to see how it is being deemed racist. Racism is discrimination, prejudice or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that ones own race is superior. Given that race is characterised as an ethnic group and no ethnicity was mentioned in the comment, should we be classifying the comment as racist? Xenophobic I could just about understand but racist I disagree. Can of worms being opened I appreciate.
