Really! I make it that 7 first team regulars started today's game. I'm not expecting Johnson to sign 10 players on loan but when you give contracts to sick notes like Hall, Dawson and Martin and fail to have cover for key players like Jarvis you are asking for trouble. Johnson out.notnow wrote: ↑26 Dec 2023, 20:36 Okay,we are currently a team of full time non first team players who are not regularly playing together, some of which are indeed first team players who might I add only a month or so ago were said by most that they are not fit to wear a tufc shirt, I.e. mcgavin, are playing “part time” teams who play like they are in a cup final against the likes of us and Yeovil.? So I can only assume you would prefer GJ to go out and get another 10 loan players at whatever cost and when Jarvis, Dawson, Hall, etc etc come back we will have a squad of 30 players? Yeah sounds great but hardly sustainable, I’m not going to be rude and suggest the same as you did about who’s fooled easily.

Players relocating is always used as an excuse when things are going badly. We have two league clubs in the same county (although I appreciate Johnson may have burned his bridges with them with the way he has used previous loanees) and I refuse to believe their are not better players in Devon and Cornwall than some of our current squad. It's all about scouting. Perhaps Johnson's brother should be watching games rather than sitting in the dugout.Nick Potkins wrote: ↑29 Oct 2023, 08:48 Let clear up a few points, I was standing beside the guy asking good questions. I thank him for this. George confined a few things. The new ground is still planned. The finances are very good. It became clear getting players to relocate is a big issue. As others have pointed out, as the group got larger, with shouting and swearing he retreated.

No. Should have been sacked after play off defeat or last season's relegation.UnitedinDevon wrote: ↑14 Oct 2023, 16:38 GJ takes McGavin off who's been one of the better players today
He's lost it
Interested to know if anyone thinks he should carry on?

II'd swap position with Exeter everyday of the week. A club on the up with an excellent youth system playing games in the League Cup and EFL Trophy whilst we languish in the NLS playing in the F A Cup Qualifying rounds and the F A Trophy managed by someone who is well past his best.

But it's not 7 games is it. Its a decline that started with the play-off final defeat and is now entering its 3rd season. Johnson is well past his best and shouldn't still be in a job. The fact that he is still the manager after last season's relegation says everything about the direction of our club, our apathetic ownership and the acceptance of failure by a large proportion of our fanbase.MellowYellow wrote: ↑02 Sep 2023, 20:19 Let's not forget that there are 46 games to play this season, and there is hardly a team in this Micky Mouse league that can finish the season without a draw or a loss. After this result we can be negative because its three points less but screaming for heads to roll after 7 games because we are three points off the top of the table and only sitting in a play-off spot is ludicrous.
We can be negative about todays result because anyone who paid money to travel and watch a shambles in the 2-1 defeat at Aveley deserves an apology from management and players. This is not a quality league, our game play has to be all about fight, desire, attitude and set-plays. Today we lacked leadership, we lacked aggression and we lacked fight - we deserved to lose. It’s a real low point for our team but they need to stay together and get it together. There’s an honest and talented bunch of lads in the squad and today is a tough moment for them but we all know the players can be better individually and collectively across the board.
Being only three points off the top of the table after 7 games why not wait to be judge and jury after the mandatory 10 games.

I think Johnson has blown the budget on injured prone players who are past their best (Hall and Moxey) and players who are not good enough for this level (too many to mention). This is the level we have sunk to, hoping for a draw against part-time St Albans!culmstockgull wrote: ↑19 Aug 2023, 14:22 Ultra thin judging by the team this afternoon, only four outfield players all defensive minded and one is a first year pro,no forwards at alI. I do not believe in conspiracy theories and theorists are just baco foil covered weirdos but there has got to be a very good reason why even short term loans have not been brought in. There is absolutely no reason to wait for another month or so until the players you have chosen becomes available , if they become available, You are betting all your eggs into not being forced into getting emergency loans of dubious quality if any more players get injured today, and knowing our luck on that score I would not bet against it. If we get a draw today it will be a bonus.

Well, I guess Johnson won't be thumping his chest in front of the supporters like he did following the meaningless friendly win over Exeter City. Johnson is way past his best but why leave a club where the expectations of the owner and some of the fans are so low. Can wait for Dom's fawning after match interview. One things for sure, today's draw won't be Johnson's fault.

Get rid now. Should have been sacked after the play-off final defeat when we blew the best chance we will probably ever have to get back in the FL.

Spot on forevertufc.
I can't believe any other fan base at a club in our position would conduct a poll where the majority still wanted to keep the manager. It just goes to show how low the expectations are at our club.

Yes our recruitment has been poor but for whatever reason the players are not buying into the way GJ wants to play. Time for a change before it’s too late.

Retained List 2022/23
We could try for Wealdstone's top scorer Josh Umerah - scored more than our top goal scorer Little.
I'm not really sure what marque signings mean in the National League. I could be wrong but I think I remember the word 'marque' being bounced around with last seasons signings.

Interesting you should mention Umerah. Umerah, Waters and Boden scored 46 goals between them this season, which makes it all the more surprising that Johnson couldn't get a tune out of any of them when we desperately needed a goalscorer towards the end of last season. Wright scored 5 goals in 33 appearances this season. Let's hope he is not on the retained list.
