A strange saturday afternoon

Hi,
Barnet fan in peace. Read that some of you are wondering how Bees can afford all our players and coaches!!. Well actually we have a tight squad with only around 18 full timers but we have some great under 18's who help out and many of our main players have come through the ranks so have cost nothing. Graham Stack and Jon Nurse double up as coaches and Gary Waddock has been there since the start of the season working for free. He has only just started a rolling month to month contract. But we are within budget and last year made a healthy profit. The reason is that The Hive, unlike Underhill, can be used daily. It has a gym open to the public and 14 training pitches open to the public some of which are 3G and are in constant use. The Hive bar/restaurant is open all week. There are conferencing facilities and Toshiba are setting up a state of the art medical facility with four scanners which should start up very soon as part of their sponsorship. Also London Broncos play there and Barnet get all the gate and bar money from their matches. London Bees (Ladies) play there as well. Plus with bars under the west stand for both home and away supporters people now spend money at the ground instead of at local pubs. We also have international and European teams training there when playing champions league games or at Wembley. It is as you say a pity that our gates are not what they should be but hopefully that will improve gradually.
Hope you all enjoy your trip tomorrow, (why the hell was it not arranged for a saturday? )
