Myles Anderson

I have a mate who's a Blackburn Rovers fan. He sent me this clipping which was in their local rag the other day;

Yesterday Barrow AFC, of the National League, released Myles Anderson.
Remember him ? The son of agent and Venky;s advisor Jerome ( the man who ruined Backburn Rovers) Anderson.
Myles , who joined Barrow in August 16, made just one appearance and was unused sub on 15 occassions. The latest flop in a long line of clubs.
Kean / Anderson gave this lad a 3 year Premiership contract in 2011, along with a squad number 34. He never kicked a ball for Rovers. Except on one occassion in a pre season tournament in Hong Kong, coming on as sub.
As anyone at Brockhall would tell you, Myles could just not play football.
On signing him, Kean hailed him as the next Chris Smalling.
His father Jreome, broke down in tears in that infamous Sky TV interview, because of , so called abuse his son was getting from Rovers fans. We never got the right of reply.
How does Myles get clubs like Barrow ? National League is a good standard, as Lincoln and Sutton have shown us in the FA Cup.
His father pulling in favours probably, Myles is now off to Torquay.
The reason i raise this issue isn to give an example how Anderson plunged this club into £100m of debt.
His son was on a 3 year contract at a reported £30k per week, and he could not play football.
Anderson reeked havoc with our money in his 2 year spell at our club, Nov'2010 till Nov 2012 approx, we dont know how long his involvment was for sure.
Add all the others to the mix , Murphy, Best, etc etc and you can realise why Rovers survival is on the brink.
Venky's should sue the ass of Anderson/SEM Kentaro.

No reflection on Mr Anderson, who I thought had a decent game at the weekend. Just thought another clubs perspective might be interesting!

Time to go Mr Nicholson... POOR

I have the utmost respect for Nicho and the way he conducts himself in totally shite circumstances. I don't think getting rid of him is the answer.

BUT

The lack of clear tactics and a game plan is not influenced by budget or off field shenanigans. That's down to Nicho and Robbie. It's really been bothering me this whole season how we just don't have a clear idea of how we should be playing. Lumping it long seems to be the default. I don't have a problem with that if there's a plan attached to it. Lumping it long to a bloke on his own surrounded by three or four defenders is pointless. Lumping it long to a bloke with two or three chaps running off him if (in the unlikely event) bloke number one wins it in the air is fine. Worked well for Man UTD last weekend.

It's complete rubbish that any of our squad are not capable of following instructions. They play football for a living. They can listen and, as long as the instructions are simple enough for their limited ability, they should be able to follow them. You might come up against a good team or an individual that prevents you from carrying out those instructions to the letter for 90 minutes. Happens all the time in football. But some instructions to start with would be good.

If you put eleven average players on the pitch with a sound tactical plan, you'll win some games. Not all but some.

If you put eleven average players on the pitch with no plan, you get what we've got now, with us making other shite teams look good.

I think Kev will be a good manager. He's not a good manager yet though and he needs some help.

Torquay v Woking 14/01/17

I'm much more positive about tomorrow now that Fitzpatrick is here for another month and that we have a right back.

1-1.

Gaming International have taken our club hostage

GI's 5 year plan;

Year 1: Limited investment in the team and narrowly avoid staying in the National League. Acquire freehold of Plainmoor.
Year 2: Limited investment in the team, just about stay in National League South. Attendance numbers drop.
Year 3: Enter administration. 10 point deduction and TUFC cant fulfill their fixtures. TUFC are no more.
Year 4: Get planning consent for a lovely new housing development and commence demolition of Plainmoor.
Year 5: Build houses and make lots of money.

Thats what my head is saying anyway. It wont be that simple of course but you get the gist.

The natural optimist in me is hoping for a cash injection in January to strengthen the squad, the same in Summer 2017 and League football again by 2018.

I wish.

Brace yourselves

I'm sure Mr Phillips is a nice bloke. I have no doubt that he's worked very hard this last eighteen months and tried to do the best for Torquay United.

Unfortunately though, as he's not communicated with us, we have no idea about any of that. All we (now) know is that he's sold us to GI, a company that has an appalling record of false promises and putting sporting stadium users out of business for their own financial gain.

I certainly don't condone any personal abuse directed at Mr Phillips. I can certainly understand it though.

We are a massive 5 points off the relegation places and we have lost to Woking Southport Guisely and North Ferriby all below us. Do you see us winning at York next week. I hope so but.....I am not going to hold my breath.

FFS Jeff where I have said I EXPECT success ? Jeez if I expect success I would be yet another armchair Manure fan.

I have traveled the length and breath of this country supporting this club. Trips to Workington ...remember them ? Scunthorpe. Darlington etc.All of those glamour trips. I have NEVER expected success and I admit I cried on our first visit to Wembley two years after a real great escape in 1987.
It's because the club means so much to me and has played a huge part in my life is the reason why I am upset as to its present state. But hey ho its all we can expect isn't it ? Follow the messiah.
At least back then we had hope and FUN going to the games ! It is not like that now and by the gates we get and all the faces that I no longer see at Plainmoor many others presumably share a similar view.

Agreed nobody is forcing me to be a supporter but it seems I am now not allowed a view on what am seeing compared to what I have seen.
Makes you embarrassed to be a TUFC supporter if people moan ? Feck I have had to put up with people taking the piss out of me for supporting TUFC from my schooldays to my age now of 56 so don't you dare lay that on me or question my support !!

We all want the same thing and that is success for our club but can you honestly see it ever returning to even the modest level of league two ?
I will keep on going but you have to question the sanity of us all !!

(Jeffs reply post to me has gone ??? !! Oh well hey ho )
Well said :goodpost:

New Owners - Soon?

Can we read in to anything Kev says here? http://www.torquayheraldexpress.co.uk/t ... story.html as in he should know who the bidders are shouldn't he? Or am I just being too optimistic?

Tight game, but I think our desire for the £2,500 (or whatever it is) prize money will help motivate us ^.^ and we'll win 1-0.

New Owners - Soon?

Ok, its positive that they have reached an agreement. Well done the board. I hope the deal is as good as can be expected in the circumstances.

Agreement "subject to contract" is pretty standard stuff and one would hope that most of the DD work has already been done, as the purported 16 days doesn't give the new party much time if they're starting from scratch.

Fingers crossed but I'm not counting any chickens yet.............

I'm afraid I lost my positive hat in the away end at Tranmere on Saturday. Think we'll lose by two or three tonight. Really hope I'm proved wrong.

Tranmere V Torquay 26/11 3pm

Lots of arguing between the Tranmere players as to who should take it and then the dude steps up and puts it 5 or 6 yards wide. Awful pen. Other than Sparkes skinning their full back and getting a good cross in (once) it was the highlight of my day. Actually, the cheeseburger at half time was probably the best bit...............

MOTM - Tranmere

Tough one. Don't think anyone stood out.

Kieffer did ok but nothing like Tuesdays performance.

Sparkes did ok when he had the ball.

Verma & Ward tried hard but can't pass it more than 10 yards.

Gerring & McGinty looked solid.

Snoop did ok.

Tranmere V Torquay 26/11 3pm

Well, the midfield lost us that game. We had no one who could pass a ball in the middle of the pitch.

I thought we were actually ok defensively. One lapse in concentration for the first goal to give Mangan too much space (it was a quality finish) but other than that, the back 4 did ok, especially considering they had to reshuffle after 10 minutes. Yes, we were exposed a fair bit second half but that wasn't the back 4's fault.

The game was gone before the second half had hardly started. Our midfield was snoozing, a couple of easy passes and Mangan had his second. Yes, Moore should have saved it but I'm not going to give him a hard time about it. The midfield should have been tighter.

Tactically, I'm not sure what the plan was. We were 442 but we hardly got it wide at all and just lumped it long to Kieffer. He won most of his headers but 90% of them went no where near a yellow shirt. Was so frustrating to watch.

We had a couple of half chances but generally created nothing. The odd occasion we did get it wide, our crossing was shite. Sparkes is the only player who put in a decent ball today. Once.

I didn't think Tranmere looked anything special. A decent centre half, a good left winger and a clinical striker. Their full backs were crap.

One last thing, the game was played in almost complete silence. It was weird. We made a bit of noise but there was very little from the Tranmere fans.
