You're right, perhaps they did try, none of us know do we...
Good of Louis if what SR says is true about him not digging his heels in for full compensation, could have said no chance and sat until June on his wage.

It actually says both.
I am speculating of course, no doubt someone will shoot me down!! My guess....which at the end of the day is al it is, a guess, is that KN/the board have sacrificed a big earner, who lets face it has not performed to anything like an exceptable level, will have been told he is surplus to requirements. I have to believe however that they will have worked out a compensation package, as you can not simply end a players contract without paying an aggreeable figure for both parties....(i.e mutual consent)
My argument would have been for the club to look for a loan agreement where someone takes him and pays, if not all, but most of his wages up until his contract ends in June.
No doubt I will get rediculed for my view, but there you go, perhaps Louis has another club lined up where they will be happy to take him on his current wage or better, and he has had the good grace to tell Torquay they need not pay him anything...at the end of the day, who knows.
Forgive me for my pecimism? (apologies for spelling), I hope I am wrong and that we end up going on a run that keeps us up,

You're brilliant.....
Its interesting you don't offer your own insight, Briscoe simply bent over, and walked away with a Torquay United pen for his efforts after having his contract terminated...
Never meant for discussion to get personal, perhaps my initial message was a little direct, I apologise if misguided in my belief that if a player, manager has his contracted terminated, that they get compensated for the value of the remainder of that contract.
I bow to your superior knowledge. Bear in mind I support this club as much as you do, if I have grievances about mismanagment, it is because the decision processes of individuals has led us to this point, perhaps I can not air my frustration on a public forum....
Your views are respected Ferarri lover, just not your general tone

I see you write well, and are full of shit.......i mean wit.
You obviously know the full ins and outs of the decision to terminate his contract, and the subsequent payment of £0 compensate him.
I stand corrected.........tit

Forgive me if I am wrong.....I assume Louis has to have his contract paid up. He will have been under contract until June. Even if it wasn't paid up in full, I know that the club will have had to offer a settlement.
You can't just tell a player he is free to leave..........

That will be the Lavercombe fee paid to Briscoe then....
I have my concerns about the people running this club. Why didn't they get him out on loan if they wanted to free up some money!!

Just wondered if people feel on reflection whether it was the right decision? At the time I was critical of playing style and some tactical decisions. Perhaps you learn from these mistakes, could he have turned it around?

Torquay v Lincoln
Apolgies Porto....I did mean from the starting 11 yesterday, would have course named Nathan Smith who has been our best player this season. Think jury is still out on Berry who hasn't impressed me thus far, though does have good pedigree.
I think Campion will offer us something, appreciate ineffective yesterday, but very isolated, and with very little to work service. Murombedzi not good enough, Butler better coming forward from deeper, there are better footballers in western league than Heslop & Gerring. Lavercombe did not inspire confidence, can forgive him a little, he is only 18, may have had his mind elsewhere.....that may be a little unkind to him....i hated the general negative feeling around the whole place yesterday

Don't think the system was to blame, looked like 4-2-3-1 to me by the way with Heslop and Richards as tje 2 holding midfielders with Briscoe advanced. Quite simply, we have only 4-5 players of national league standard. Butler, Macdonald.... (on his day) Richards, Campion. We would have 2 more, Marsh and Young. We are quite simply 4-5 players short of being competitive, mix that with the circus going on behind the scenes and you have what we saw yesterday, 1st half in particular, a complete mess.

I am glad you are not the manager......RussianGull wrote:As far as I'm concerned the back 5 should be pretty much nailed on:
Goalkeeper has to be Spiess until we've built Dan's confidence back up.
Back four is a no brainer, Berry MacDonald Smith Butler, I'd be disappointed if Nico picked himself for left back because I think Butler is actually one of the better players in our squad, not sure whether he'd make a good left midfielder but if he shows promise in training then push him up there.
Midfield is slightly more problematic:
Hurst has to play on the right, as for the rest of midfield then there of 3/4 places available. Hickford and Bell did nothing of note at Lincoln, Heslop hasn't shown much since he's been with us and left wing/left midfield is a problem area - Briscoe is ineffective from here and Murombedzi isn't ready.
Up front I like the look of Fisher and Marsh but I'm not sure on where Fisher plays best yet.
So Nico has some big decisions regarding midfield and up front. Regarding Exodus - what a weapon he could be in the final twenty minutes. Take off an ineffective winger/midfielder stick Exodus in the middle of the park and every opportunity boot the ball out of touch up top and we could aerially bombard the opposition defence. Against a tired defence his long throws could be very effective indeed.
