Realistic goals next season
GJ is the most talented manager that the Gulls have had for many many seasons. He’s been there, done it and got the T shirt in bundles. If there is any manager that could get us promoted next season it is GJ (as long as he is given the financial resources).

Woking FC v Torquay United 6/4/19
A good analysis of the match by Rjc70.
Has there ever been a draw that felt that much better than a win? When we were bouncing on the terrace you just knew how utterly gutted they must have been feeling -their one chance to catch us and they blew it. And all thanks to Gerring who got himself sent off with with a needless challenge - an extra man in the box could have made all the difference for the Wynter goal. Thanks you c**t - I’ll stop singing songs about you now.

Torquay United v Dulwich Hamlet 23/2/19
I think you mean “Gerring... I want to know, baby, why you’re such a...”. Great chant. Nearly as good as Wham Christmas one.Jamieb wrote: 23 Feb 2019, 20:14 Good match, wonder if anyone noticed choreographed pre match warmup by ref, linesmen, not intentionally, but hilarious to us!especially the bending over, wiggling hands, know dulwich play in pink..and then meltdown,as? Linesman retired?thanx to guy who stepped in to relieve chaos!also appreciated chant,banter..Gary ..I want to know, baby, why your such a c***t,? Based on a Woking message, but, really, really not good w/kids in ground, and after halftime, wellwhat pep talk, gulls seemed to take foot off gas,for a while, yet dulwich got stronger, should have been in reverse!however,m.o.m,no 10,well deserved, and new young sub,no 14,looks promising,no love lost 4 referee,however..
Hats off to the bloke who came out from the crowd, and let’s face it, saved the day because without him then game could have been abandoned. He was also better than many of the linos we’ve had this season. He was my man of the match.

The Gary Johnson effect
I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere else on the forum but there’s a great double page interview with Gary Johnson in this week’s edition of The Non-League Paper.

Torquayunited v Woking Fa Cup 1st round 10/11/18
The highlights make for depressing viewing. They show how close we came and how well the Woking keeper played which wasn’t always obvious at the time from where I was standing.
They also show what a poor game the ref and the Lino on the Pop Side had. Niate clearly toe pokes the ball with his left foot.
Although not shown the decision to play an advantage then bring play back to where the first foul occurred after the foul in the box beggars belief. How can someone so inept be allowed to officiate?

Torquayunited v Woking Fa Cup 1st round 10/11/18
No one so far seems to have pointed out that when the ball was passed forward in the attack that resulted in the penalty 2 Woking players were off side. On the whole officiating in the SPL has been good but this afternoon was the worst I’ve seen this season. It seems that the officials do a better job when they aren’t miked up and have to do without the magic spray.
We were the better side. On my way back to the car I overheard 2 Woking fans saying that in the second half we had them under the cosh and they were lucky to come away with a win.
Also, I think the conditions in the second half made it easier to defend than attack.

Go G.O!!
Good point - let's hope so. I can't remember the stats - wasn't is 4 weeks and 6 games without a manager - and 1 point? We never recovered from that fiasco.MellowYellow wrote: 12 Sep 2018, 19:01 I don't have the insight into why these changes were made, but your theory has much credence. It is evident that Ower's dismissal was not a knee jerk reaction and was in the the pipeline for a few weeks. Therefore, such changes must have been made with an overall purpose i.e. a new manager is already lined up with a guarantee that all football matters will be under his jurisdiction.

Go G.O!!
I wouldn’t normally get involved in a discussion that is not Gulls related on the forum but having personal experience of those living with mental health issues I feel I must.
Clinical depression, particularly in men, can manifest itself in violent outbursts and addiction to alcohol, gambling and drugs. For some alcoholism may be self-inflicted through poor lifestyle choices and given support they may find a route out through, for example, AA. But for others it is the underlying health issue that needs to be addressed.
Clinical depression is caused through a disorder and chemical imbalance in the brain. As this is the organ that defines who we are, what we think and how we respond to the world around us it’s not surprising the routes out that those affected sometimes take. To adopt an unsympathetic attitude to those suffering from mental illness is a bit like telling a diabetic to get up out of their diabetic coma, stop eating sugar and get on with their lives and completely ignore the fact that diabetes is caused by a disorder of the pancreas.

The level of Owers inability was shown by his substitution of the only player that was providing any threat for the donkey that is Williams.

MOTM - Chippenham
Really mate? Were you there? There were chants of Owers out but the players at FT weren’t booed and by and large were applauded off the pitch.
It Owers ineptitude that was responsible for yesterday. To quote hector “There is no rational or logical explanation for persisting with Owers other than the deliberate sabotage of the football club. He has been here for a year and it has been the worst year in our history.”
