Next season.

If there is decent funding available, then Downes, Sims aren't the answer. Too inexperienced as managers, no real success on the CV. If we have no money, then yes maybe.

Nicho is learning at Exeter and I can't really believe he'd come back.

Proven manager, but one that embraces new ideas, no idea who. But most definitely it needs to go out to external applications. Maybe the manager of Worthing, who play attractive attacking football?

Torquay United v H&W Sat 20th Apr 3pm

Most of the players must know it's their last game for us, hopefully they'll still play with freedom and the mindset to put on a show.

Looks like it'll be sunny, looks like lots of tickets have been sold.

4-2 win. Att 3.750.

Taunton Town v Torquay United Tues 16 April KO 19.45.

Can’t leave things too long, otherwise the manager will have to do last minute shopping like we did after the Play off final when most the good players were already snapped up.

Definitely an apology from me for whoever it was that stated Osborne, and so us, was being funded by property developers. I thought It utterly impossible that people would scheme like that, guess I am very naive. However we now can all see he truly had no interest in us supporters or the club, it was all about profit.

What does it mean for the loan, if it’s not actually to him, will they still try to get at least some of it back?

Taunton Town v Torquay United Tues 16 April KO 19.45.

Where’s the information about a property developer funding Osborne?

I assume they wanted the Quinta fields and to build a new stadium, which would have opened up more building opportunities around it?

I was one who ridiculed this notion, but am happy to apologise if it is true.

Yes, we shouldn’t be celebrating just about staying in NLS, but in the present and future circumstances I think we all feel like it’s a far better place to be than the league below. I’ll be celebrating on Saturday, but mostly in the hope we are about to finally begin the long process towards being self sustainable and the hopefully back to the Football League.

Reflections on the 23/24 season

The two pre season friendlies filled us with hope.

Decembers second place, we all knew this was a false position. We’d been poor all season, winning games we shouldn’t have. I always felt we’d pick up when the injuries cleared and loans arrived.

Although we re-signed a lot of those players from the last 10 games, we didn’t get Nouble, Nicho didn’t come back and Dawson never started. One from each of the key parts of the pitch.
Where the management and players complacent being in this league, I’d say yes, playing at 99% and not 100% makes such a difference. As others said, the Gary magic didn’t quite seem there, the early 20 minute blitz where teams used to be blown away just never happened. This league has moved on, although there are still only 4 or 5 really decent sides, they really shocked us with their passing game.

Certainly the knowledge Johnson’s salary remaining unchanged, while the players dropped must have caused friction, even if subconsciously. Did Gary maybe get a bit of Fergie about himself, we were relegated and he seemed to face no repercussions for it and maybe he also no longer worked at 100%, even maybe without realising.

Injuries, for the 5th season running we had key injuries throughout the entire season, Johnson eventually found loan players that plugged the gap, he found a few this season, but they were soon recalled back and their benefit was brief. I think that 4-1 defeat of Exeter also stopped any of their players heading our way. Hopefully we can continue to build bridges with them.

Our long serving players have experience, but none have pace and we have looked pedestrian and slow of thought and idea all season and their injuries keep them out longer. Fair play to Moxey for playing so many games.

Where are the set piece moves to make the opposition think rather than lofted balls into the area?

Our players are so slow, any breaks were quickly ended as few players had a burst of pace. Against the poorer sides, we are just too slow to capitalise and open them up.

No wingers, Stubbs blows hot and cold, Desilva again it just didn’t work.

Johnson himself, arrogant, knows best, inflexible, siege mentality. He rubs supporters and many potential players up the wrong way. Playing players out of their favoured positions, it worked for Reid, but who else? This just led to no connections or gelling of play, no one seemed to know what to do half the time.

Ash and Jarvis, 25 odd goals between them I think, but it never felt like the combination worked. Hoof ball didn’t help.

The pitch, pristine until December or there abouts, but that area in front of Bristows isn’t great for passing or wing play football.

Injuries, gambled on injury prone players not getting injured, didn’t pay off.

The for and against support, a split support base is never good for a team.

The lack of information about injuries or signings just alienates at least some of us. It’s National League South, why the secrecy. Dawson was a prime example, I was looking forward to seeing him and Lapslie controlling the midfield, and nothing, not a single word about him.

All in all a season to forget, however we didn’t sink further, we hopefully will soon hear some great news about owners/investment. I’m looking forward to a new season, new manager and players. We need to temper our expectations as the next season or two are building a new team, new club.

Jarvis won’t be here next season you’d have thought, I’m sure the consistent fouling and lack of ref protection will convince him to move on, unless we are offering decent money and they can sell the clubs future to him.

Although it’s great we have more information about injuries now; for the last 3 or 4 weeks it’s been “he might be back this weekend, he could make the Easter matches”, when he doesn’t, it’s no wonder people (including me) cant help but wonder if there’s an agenda playing out.

Moving forward, players with injury concerns are too big a risk to be signed, unless on reduced pay as you play deals. We have at least 3 players who have missed virtually the whole season and at least 3 who play 3 games and then miss 5.

Potential Buyers

TUST said they needed 150k from us the fans for next next season. The consortium must have proved they could cover that cost regardless if we hadn’t been able to raise the funds, and that’s why they were approved. I’m not sure if we would raise that money though as we struggled to raise 25k just to survive as a club, although I concede that money was to allow us to continue and the 150k I guess would give the fans each a share in the club?

A fan owned and run club should be the long term solution for us, however if someone is coming in and spending money to eventually still make us sustainable then this would shorten that timespan considerably. Exeter took what, around 15 years to get there.

Anyway until we hear, who knows the plans and funds available.

Next season.

The statement mentions poor runs and a disastrous season, why would we want him here?

The rumours are it could be the Brewdog co owner or the owner of The Range. Evidence is one liked tweet and one person who looked a bit like the other one at a game.
Seeing as it's only one preferred bidder, then at least one of these rumours is BS.

Could be neither.

As for next season, Booth, maybe Moxey, Lovett, Archer, no one else.
No signing injury prone players.

TUST would be great, but what exactly did they mean when saying they'd need £150k raised from us within a few weeks?

Can they cover this if we don't, as we struggled to get 25k in a month recently.

I can only assume the club are playing down the significance of the game. The players have no stomach for a do or die battle. They also are obviously incapable of working out the points needed and the 'what ifs' themselves, as has been already been recently proven.

Any Churchill style speeches to them or the public would send them crying in a corner.

It's only been the fans who've shown any true passion, 700 to Bath!

Downsie has a go to phrase of 'disappointed' when we've been poor, show some passion man. Or it may be the case that they can't control their emotions as has been shown by Marshall and Duane.

Staying Up - Relegation Battle

Fair enough Skillsy.

Most of us can remember the old days where players would be desperate to play every second of every match. Where a bucket of water and a sponge seemed to fix any injury.

Players of course need to be protected.

It's more frustration really from me, Dawson missed most the season and now he's injured again. The news on Jarvis was that he may well be back for Easter.

These guys know they have two games left of their Torquay careers, if it's only niggles then get them playing. They'll have 3 months after to get fit.

It'll just be frustrating if a week Saturday we see Jarvis being paraded at a new club.

This is where the internet and social media are laughable. Slagging off people who are only rumoured online to be interested, you can’t make it up sometimes.

Rumours are exactly that, a guy who looked a bit like someone was at a football match, a guy who has a girlfriend originally from Torquay. Well it must all be true then, they must be buying us. Then the dismantling begins, the experts come out with all their opinions on how bad they’ll be for us.

I can’t imagine both would be still interested if it’s true, we only have one preferred bidder. Wouldn’t the other be off now on their next acquisition? It may be that neither had any interest at all and it’s someone else entirely. liking a social media post seems to be the depth of the evidence.

The people finding fault with them, these people will have employees that would look at all aspects of a club, including forums like this. If they are about to spend millions, of course they will look at fans thoughts and attitudes. If we don’t have a buyer soon, we are finished as a professional full time club. TUST have said they need £150k extra from us in the next few weeks if they take over, can anyone really see that happening? The club have gone very quiet on the money raised, it was last around £23k, that will have been spent I assume, minus £750 of course.

I hope one of these two rumours are true, it means we have serious investment coming are way and our short term future is assured. Give them a chance.

Unfortunately I think they'll be more up for it than us, better organised and more dangerous.

1-0 defeat.

Desperately hope we can get a win or a draw though.

Wondered what the Chris Dawson connection could be, didn't realise he was born in Plymouth and I guess they're not available.
