Retained list out!
Think it's doubtful he would come back. In the newspaper article he is asked if he would go back to Torquay and says he is keeping his options open, which indicates he is hoping for something better to come along.
Probably one of GJ's spinning plates.

Retained List 2022/23
We'll have to wait and see. Could be the media department want to repeat the bollocks of announcing all the new arrivals on the same day. Either way Johnson won't be able to use the same excuse of a shortened close season that he used last summer and if the recruitment is poor again does that mean the owner is preparing to bail out?gullsgullsgulls wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022, 08:09 Given the rate at which other clubs seem to be announcing their acquisitions of TQ players, should we be at all concerned that we have yet to announce any signings?
Whilst I’m hopeful that GJ is working hard in the background and closing in on some signatures, I had hoped we would be ahead of the curve given our season effectively finished weeks ago.

I'm afraid this is my view too. Forever is right in saying that we should be able to compete for a place off place given the calibre of teams in this league, we are certainly on a par with the likes of Yeovil, Dagenham, York et al, but the recruitment issues last season are cause for concern particularly when considering the signings that came in after the season started; Addai, Moore and Felix all proved not fit for purpose.Wolborough wrote: ↑05 Jun 2022, 09:25 Suspect we will be a comfortable mid-table team that will struggle to reach the playoffs (unless we capture a minimum of 8 decent players through permanent signings and season long loans). Given the disappointing intake last year I’m not sure there can be a case for too much optimism!

The fact is in a twelve year professional career Halstead has failed to establish himself as number one choice at any of his clubs. God knows why the Johnson brothers thought he would be a suitable number One for us.rivieratouch wrote: ↑02 Jun 2022, 20:02 He was a,20 y/o kid keeper ffs. Can't think of many that age starting in the Prem, especially keepers.
Try a bit harder and hound him out, or back him if selected.

No he didn't. He came on as a 66th minute sub against Chelsea and never played a Premier League game again.

Is that based on Shaun 'liking' a tweet about the York goalkeeper signing for Harrogate?
Seeing that MacDonald and Jameson both come from the same area of the country they could simply be mates.

New contracts must be offered within seven days of the last match of the season and are valid for 28 days.
Therefore the earliest date they could have been offered is 8th May and they would be valid until 5th June.

The trouble is, even if we have two fit for purpose strikers available, having a player like Wright is still a drain on resources when our budget is probably very tight.
Much better to have a young rookie on the bench who can possibly prosper in future.
BTW Wright actually played in most of our fixtures this season but the return of 5 goals is poor.

I haven't heard anything about the salary cap actually being formally approved yet. I think it was only agreed to in principle.
Don't forget the salary cap is not fixed at the same amount for each side. It is a percentage of football related turnover so the bigger clubs will still be at an advantage and I suspect that Wrexham's shirt sponsorship deal puts them well out in front of other clubs.

Wrexham. As long as they remain in Netflix pocket they will continue to spend, spend, spend. It's better to get them out of the way so there is a fairer playing field next season.
