Can We Make the Play Offs?
If we were to genuinely challenge for a play off spot then it is going to go down to the last game of the season at Southend. So why has GJ, rather than travelling up with the team and preparing them ahead of the game decided to take part in a charity match at Huish Park the day before the game? Is it because he knows we have no chance of getting to the play-offs.

Sparkes ?culmstockgull wrote: ↑04 Apr 2022, 18:34 I fully understand the talk from the club about, maybe, possibly, could be making the play offs, that's purely commercial PR , they need the fans to keep coming throught the gate, for those of us who turn up each week we knew way back that barring a miracle we would not achieve anywhere close to what we did last season, we just did not have a team of sufficent ability, infact in early autumn you would be forgiven in thinking we did not have a team .Our upturn in performances was getting Sparkes for a short while and then in January Wearne and Duke Mckenna, all had one thing in common, they were all quality and could play this league in their sleep.

With regards to Omar mentioned above. Although not the finished article he has improved. Surely the best thing now that we are not going to get relegated is to start him in every game until the end of the season and see how he progresses, then decide what to do. Forget the play-offs, we're not going to get there, the club and Johnson just keep plugging it to get the fans turning up until the end of the season.

Possibly Euan O'Kane in 2012 to Bournemouth. Don't know the fee but he had a £175k release fee in his contract at the time.

Especially the final paragraph.culmstockgull wrote: ↑16 Mar 2022, 14:46 The positivity of some posters is commendable but belies the fact we neither deserve or are fit for promotion, well not this season anyway. two few goals scored ,far too many conceded, runs of five without a loss followed by three poor results are not indicative of a promotion team, overall the weakest squad for several seasons, the quality and experience of last season was not replaced.
We acquired a job lot of players in July , many of which are just not up to this league both in terms of ability and quality.
I would like the season to end now with mid table security if it meant that Johnson could use all his time and effort in searching for and acquiring the right players for the next campaign instead of signing players in July that every one else had run the rule over and discounted.
In terms of retaining players we aready have , and there are just a few in my opinion that turn up each week and put the work in I would be offering them extended contracts now on the basis that these few will undoubtedly attract the attentions of other clubs in the summer and at least if we did decide to let them go we could get money for them

Former Torquay United manager Frank O'Farrell has died at the age of 94.
I would have thought the next Saturday home game against Weymouth would be the most appropriate for the applause given O'Farrell's connection with that club.

I think tonight's performance at Wealdstone definitely shows it is our attack, or the lack, of it that is the pressing concern.

I don't think it was for off side. My initial reaction was that the ball had gone out of play.

Losing gate money might concentrate Wealdstone's mind on keeping their ground in working order.standupsitdown wrote: ↑24 Feb 2022, 12:11 Both teams have plenty of free midweeks. It should be postponed and played when fans can attend. And Wealdstone would not lose the gate money.
