Forest Green v Torquay new years day 2017
Well done to the 450 travelling fans who were in good voice today. What a great game even if we couldn't quite hang on at the end. Perhaps KN could have got the boys to close out the game better but hey, I don't want to criticize anyone after that wonderful afternoon of entertainment.
The food was shocking though; chips or chips and curry sauce (unless you are vegetarian). Come on FGR sort that out!!

I did know that Jeff Stelling rated him very highly. When I saw James last I found a signed photograph from Jeff and the rest of the soccer Saturday team.

wivelgull wrote:Yes, Mr. Willow, I did see James Brown a number of times. By the time he was with us [Whitby Town] his long-term injury (I think his knee) had reached the stage where he could not go on or chance a serious injury. I think he retires after he left us. He did score a few goals and clearly was, in his day, a very good player.
Wivelgull - Yes, James did have a serious knee injury and was only about 27 when he retired. His knee was the reason he left Hartlepool. James had a brief spell with Gateshead before ending up at Whitby. James is now a driving instructor in his home town of Seaton Sluice (near Whitley Bay).

Well done Wivelgull. Is the next milestone 1500?
My cousins brother-in-law played a few games for Whitby a couple of years ago (James Brown). Did you get to see him play?

Forest Green Away, new years day?
Ill be there and also taking the family. Looking forward to another great game, although as gullscorer has said, it wont be a 7 goal thriller.
Prediction - 1 - 1. Attendance - 2163.

1. Sparkes was the best player on the pitch.
2. Fitzpatrick - his best game so far.
3. Verma - more comfortable in midfield.
4. Moore - some top saves.
5. Reid - we will miss him if this was his last game!

Nathan Blissett MOM today.. Gone tomorrow?
If the club are able to get money for him then its a no brainer, he has to go. Bliss has been average at best this season. KN was talking after the match about his work rate. Thinking about it now, he's talking him up to try and get more money. Bliss didn't work hard at all, he allowed them to play the ball out of defence time and again. I for one wont be sorry to see him go.
Obviously it leaves us very short, especially if Reid has played his last game also. But at least we won't have to wait long to find out what the new boards intensions are!!

It sounded like we played really well tonight, second half especially. Why are these performances so far and few between?
We really do need to keep Kieffer, he seems to have given the other more confidence. Realistically though, tonight is likely to be his last game for us. But I pray that I'm wrong!!

K Moore - best display I have seen from a Torquay player for some time. He won absolutely everything in the air and he is also good with his feet.
Sparkes - delivered a number of great crosses for Moore.
Moore- another solid performance, should have scored though!
Reid - complemented Moore well and a much better partner than Blissett.
GG - one of his best games

Get in, a much needed win. Moore looked class, he will certainly play at a higher level. He won everything in the air and was a real threat all night. ILets hope he can bag a couple more whilst he is still with us. I hope that Blisset was taking note! A mention for Sparkes though. He delivered some great crosses for Moore to get on the end of.
Lets hope the club is sold this week and we can come up with the money to keep Moore.

Thought K Moore looked promising, he looked far more of a threat than Blissett. I would like to see Moore/Reid given a go together Tuesday night. Blissett quite frankly has failed to deliver all season.
The back looked as shaky as ever (McGinty apart). The space their forward had for the goal just beggars belief. I don't know what Nico does with them in training but being a defender himself, they should be far more organised. Saying that, it was good to get something after going behind early and there is some competition for places at the moment. Dont want to state the obvious but need a win Tuesday night.
