Truro City v TUFC New Years Day Venue Plainmoor.

Good game in the end, was made to work for it though, Truro were no push overs. Thought JSW was lucky to stay on the pitch himself, more than once swun his arm/elbow into the face of the forward, if either ref or Lino saw them he would of walked

Mr Owers steps down

brucie wrote: 12 Sep 2018, 18:48 I don't understand why goody keeps carping on about Jay fecking Saunders - like he is some guru or something.

Sacked after 2 wins from 7 this year and managed a 17 game winless run last year. For **** sake get real - we want someone who can actuall win games not another loser. I would rather have Tully.
Brucie you’ve been carping on how good Owers was right up to the weekend, that worked out well! Football and this forums about opinions fella, get over yourself

Osborne meeting with Kevin Foster MP and Cllr

MellowYellow wrote: 03 Sep 2018, 19:33 Merse: are you saying that Osborne snapped up Plainmoor stadium for its potential development value rather than sporting reasons.

Over the week-end I has a pint with an old associate of mine who happens to be in the Land Remediation Industry. I asked him if it is possible to build residential housing and a Stadium on a Land Fill site. The simple answer was 'Yes' and being in the industry his answers were as you would expect positive.

I asked him about the process - most of it went over my head but in summary it was about removing the cap tonnage to reveal the waste tonnage. The cap is reprocessed for engineered fill with the landfill waste segregated for processing and remediation. Simple huh!

I asked him about dewatering such a site. He told me he had just concluded a test on a Landfill site that would require dewatering at the rate of 50,000 Litres (13,200 gallons) per day in order to facilitate access to the waste, sampling the underlying soils, and backfilling the excavation. The water would be defiltered into unexcavated land and the rest would be transported to sewage plants.

When I said that must pose a challenge he retorted there are greater challenges in terms of depth of fill, surrounding housing development, environmental and road transport issue.

So what is the time scale for such a landfill project I asked: the reply was dependent on the challenge, so anywhere between 24 and 34 months. (quite time-consuming which is why I guess we have a five year plan)

I asked him about the financial consequences. He was somewhat reserved on this subject but gave me an insight of a previous council deal (not Torbay, I hasten to add). He told me capital due to remediation costs, the market Value of the site was estimated to be £nil. Once remediation was complete the Council would receive a capital receipt reflecting a percentage of the remediated value of the land. I did not push my luck in asking what the final percentage of remediated value was for the Council.

It was all very insightful stuff and did get me to add two and two together in which I conclude that Osborne wants the Plainmoor freehold on the cheap and Nightingale for £nothing. Once he has achieved that goal he is free to do what he wants with Torquay United which in my opinion is too off-load it or wind it up.

I do also question who is paying? Remediation of landfill is very expensive running into the £millions. Is Osborne putting his hand in his pockets or are the resident of Torbay expected to pay for it through a Council run environmental budgeted scheme.

Many questions to raise - but the one thing you are right about is:

Never, ever take your eye off the ball with these characters!

Torquay United v Hemel Hempstead Town, Saturday 1st September 2018

Shite!!! Utter shite!!! HH could be 4 up, two new players are looking like jewels in a otherwise crap team. Asa Hall is useless, and we’re not missing Dicksons sideways passing, so tells you how effective he is when he plays, the keepers made some good saves but as usual holds on to the ball for an age instead of starting a break with the quick ball,

brucie wrote: 31 Aug 2018, 13:25 Goody - pointless debating it because he isn't going now.

To suggest he can only sign players from Bristol City is just plain daft as well. Andrews has played in league 2 and the free kick he scored against us wasn't a fluke. Take a look on you tube at the free kick he scored against Cheltenham - the boys obviously got quality. Edwards scored two against us in the friendly so dismissing these players as a waste of money before they have kicked a ball is ludicrous.

Andrews didn't just score the free kick in the friendly. Take a look at the pass that set Edwards up for the third goal.

I wasn't suggesting that Owers has lost the dressing room - just repeating what other people were suggesting.

Tomorrows game could be a bit of a defining moment I feel. Lose again and the pressure is going to increase ten fold. If we win and with Chippenham and Hungerford to come you get the feeling that GO might be sleeping a lot better on Saturday night.
I pray your right. They do look good in the clips, but they were also playing in arguably a better team, playing with confidence, something they won't be doing at Torquay.

Go G.O!!

Hes gotta go, can we really leave it another 3 games??? By that time we could be 12-15 points off promotion places. I dont want to start the Nicho debate again, but he got 4 games, some would say against alot harder oppostion to what weve played so far this season and was removed from post by GH and CO.

Jay Saunders has just left Maindstone, hes the perfect candidate for torquay, id rather Owers stopped wasting the player budget on players from the only club he has contacts with, and allow a young promising manager to take over with fresh ideas, new momentum and hopefully a more attacking Philosophy .

I find Coffeegate appalling. No person - never mind a football manager- should have to tolerate that - and if he did lose his rag, who could blame him?
Today, I don't give a sh*t about the 1986 season, too many on here live in the past - I'm bothered about the 2018/19 one.
There is no doubt that Owers was a bad appointment. He cant motivate the players (or fans) the players obviously don't like him and he has the charisma of a wet fish.
His dire record speaks for itself - and he cant now hide behind the "They're not my players" bullsh*t
He should be gone - like other failing managers have already this season - but he wont get fired by Osborne.

The scenes at the end were bad, and I for one don’t want my son seeing such things, but let’s not let it distract us from the football. That was a bloody shocking performance!!! He should resign or at best be sacked in the morning!
