Torquayunited v Woking Fa Cup 1st round 10/11/18

Thank heavens the official TU commentary is finally up and running as BBC have that droning Brummie undertaker on again!
Two commentaries for the one game, we are honoured.

Osborne meeting with Kevin Foster MP and Cllr

merse btpir wrote: 19 Sep 2018, 21:55 You are aware who the Club's Presidents for Life are, aren't you?

Thea Bristow and Ian Hayman ~ Hayman was a director in the Bateson era and pro-active in bringing about the exposure of the Roberts regime. He was co-opted onto the ' Rowe Board' and I'm pretty certain was the man who brokered the participation of the Bristows within that initial set-up.
A shame Brian 'Palky' Palk is not also recognised - he did a great deal behind the scenes for the Club.
I understood Hayman was away in Aussie watching England cricket whilst Rome burnt under Roberts!

Osborne meeting with Kevin Foster MP and Cllr

merse btpir wrote: 19 Sep 2018, 20:18 Anything I post is not demonization but pointing out the actuality of the situation...
I am not denying Clarke Osborne is a business man and that the Club should (and must) be run as a business and this is what the two people who now sit in the directors seating at matches as 'Presidents for Life' patently failed to do during their time in possession of the responsibility of running the club.
Are these the same two who fiddled while Rome burnt under the Robert's era Merse?

Memories of plainmoor

Scott Brehaut wrote: 31 Oct 2017, 20:15 My first match was 25 March 2000 - a Devon derby v the Gargs at Plainmoor.

We lost 4-0 and I was distraught!! Stood in the popside (obviously!!) and sung myself hoarse, as is the norm when I attend football matches.

Things I remember about that day: we had an early injury to one of our forwards (name escapes me) and we lost the match after that incident, with the substitution making us lose our shape and then Plymouth scored fairly quickly after that, and then hammered home three more before shutting up shop for the rest of the game.

I stayed in a b&b and was taken to the game by Richard Hughes, after being picked up at Exeter airport by Alan (acetufc) - both used to post on Mervos site - Richard, as we know, works for the Herald now, and I have lost touch with Alan (as well as Richard.)

EDIT: injured player was Tony Bedeau.

Team for the day:
S. Jones, Paul Holmes, Wayne Thomas, Alex Watson, Lee Russell, Robbie Herrera, Chris Brandon, Brian Healy (c), Kevin Hill, Eiffon Williams, Tony Bedeau (replaced by M. Griffiths)
Unused subs Mick O’Brien, Steve Tully, Tom Stocco and Ryan Northmore.
Is that back in the days when you were a 'plod' Scotty?

Facing Reality

Facing Reality:

The reality is that we are no longer a big fish in a small pond - we are a minnow among minnows!
Even Mr Merse on the Penn Inn sight wrote it was a shock losing to Oxford City - but why?
That is the level we have sunk to now and all teams in our league are at it!
By name and history we might be slightly above others .. but on recent performances we are just another football club looking to survive.
There still seem to be those who think we are a 'big' club - well we are not, reality has put us at the level we are currently at, and it looks as though we might even struggle to remain where we are.
All very depressing.

Truro ground share back on?

Plainmoor78 wrote: 26 Jul 2018, 05:34 Going through the EFL fixture list you will find the number of match days when Exeter and Plymouth are at home in the same day is NIL.
It is common for neighbouring teams to be kept apart like this, so nothing can be read into this.
However the National League would have known of this anyway because they not give permission with so short notice.
Plymouth - Exter are just 46 miles apart so yes, neighbouring teams.
One could hardly call Torquay & Truro neigbouring teams! :~D

On Facebook Kevin Foster says Osborne has had dialogue with Mayor Gordon Oliver but not the Councillors.
