Different managers prefer different physios.....
I know of one who was given the post of First Team physio primarily for the fact that he would be the only one of the frontline (& therefore technical area) management team that spoke fluent English.....twelve months later (as part of a different management team) he was replaced because he was the only one who didn't speak Italian!
He hasn't worked in the professional football game again ~ his choice after previous personal ill-feeling over the ending of his playing career ~ but as long as the club has one, that is all important. Employees are just that; they are transitory, move on and get replaced. This is the insecure industry that is football ~ get over it.

In my experience this is more than likely.....
Managers can be quite paranoid due to job insecurity and need to have a bond of absolute trust in their head of medical/physio dept and feel that if there is a conflict of interest then 'their' man will not become the players' man. Conversely the players need to feel a bond of trust too and need to feel the head of medical/physio act in their interests and not that of the manager.
For that reason there is nearly always a demand by any new manager coming in to have his own man/men or women on his staff.
I could well imagine that given the obviously previous lax attitude towards players being fit for purpose when being signed and then (possibly) ambivalence being shown towards their reluctance to put themselves on the line like the habitual Gowling and Clarkes of this club; that the manager has lost confidence in Gareth Laws and was (again possibly) just waiting for him to sign his own despatch note which he duly did when making that request for leave of absence from what is a very 'skinny' department of the club indeed.
Then on the other hand if his contract is up then his contract is up and there is no obligation on the part of the club to give him another one; especially if the manager feels that he needs to change

So (knowing that he was about to start the job of Player-Manager) did he cup-tie himself by turning out for Bath in the previous round and follow that by presideing over tha utter capitulation at Basingstoke....but not as player-manager you'll understand?Rossi Martin wrote: ↑30 Apr 2018, 11:00 In Nico's defence and notnow, Nico had absolutely nothing to work with in terms of a budget and for a first managerial job where he had to play for the first three months of his job due to not having enough subs to field a whole team
Having been at two of those games (Aldershot & Boreham Wood) it is my view that the six goals conceded could so easily have been doubled ~ we were bloody miles off the pace!Rossi Martin wrote: ↑30 Apr 2018, 11:00 We got a competitive draw against Tramere and were competitive to both loses to Boreham wood and Aldershot which compared to where they finished was good

Correct!Plainmoor78 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 22:53 The way that Owers , in fact any manager, is going to get onside with the supporters is to produce a winning team. Everything else, such as waving to the fans etc, is just bullshit.
All the rest is just frippery, smoke and mirrors ~ results count, rebuilding the club counts; waving to the fans categorically does not. The greatest manager we ever had* never once went out onto the pitch at the end of any game.
Good managers don't need to be waving to fans and good supporters don't need to be waved to; it's just a childish culture we are in now where everybody feels they have to be thanked for turning up and everybody seems to think they should go over and do what used to be reserved for the end of a season every bloody week ~ defeat after defeat after defeat.
.....and only a **** idiot would go and thank fans who are calling for him to be sacked.
*Frank O'Farrell spoke with actions and results and that's what a manager is paid to do!

I rather think the question mark over Sokolik is the health issue he currently has which still appears to be unresolved. If that is the case then more than likely he will be made a conditional offer dependent on him passing one of those medical that were seemingly scandalously absent when signing unfit for purpose dross like Clarke and Gowling last summer.

It wouldn't be good business practice to 'destroy the football club' what would be good practice is to have a football club fit for purpose to be sold or passed on as a capital venture when he has them in the new stadium and complex he talks of.Yorkieandy wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 14:58 IF Osborne is prepared to bankroll a serious promotion push then how does that correspond to the widely held view (and mine) that he is looking to destroy the football club? It wouldn't make sense to chuck a load of money with no guarantee of success at something that you don't actually want. Especially for a businessman.
The danger comes in that there's many a slip between cup and lips as this pie in the sky project continues with the danger that the football club could lose the security of having the local authority as their landlord in a long term leasehold arrangement and end up in a new home owned by a separate company at a rent they can't afford.
I don't personally see him going down the road of ruining the football club to create a vacant tenancy because he wouldn't get that tenancy (which would be invalidated if the club went bust) and would lose his stake.

At this stage nothing can be assumed can it; there are those (including Harrop) who thought tha way at this stage last year if we kept the incumbent management; and look what happened.Yorkieandy wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 11:06 Crazy to think there are fans out there who think a decent season is on the horizon.
Let's see what the squad looks like when they come in to begin pre-season on July 1st and then start to forecast on a more informed basis than we currently have.

To illustrate a point; Konchesky retired himself well before Christmas and Pennant's hardly been selected for ages ~ only Jamie O'Hara continues to hold down a place from amongst that plethora of publicity attracting signings.....Bristol_Gull wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 23:27 Yeah the guy splashed some cash! O'Hara, Konchesky and Pennant?! They finished as champions though and most of the grief / controversy was caused by Tamplin himself wasn't it?!
By far the most successful of their expensive singings have been Jake Robinson who has been just senstional at their level and should never really be playing in it; but as he had shown previously by singing for Whitehawk, money definitely talks for Robinson. When I have seen them Sam Deering has been a real pro', great captain but I felt they didn't really know where to play him and he frequently found himself being withdrawn. Left back Joe Kizzy was picked up for peanuts from Wingate & Finchley (who play peanuts themselves by the way) and I feel he will play a significant role going forward.....and local hero Billy Bricknell of course is a veritable scoring machine too.
I think the days of signing signature veterans have served their purpose and are now over and I was told that Tamplin had told Harry Wheeler that once the club got into the National League he (Tamplin) would no longer continue in the technical area as he knew he was far from qualified to do so at that level of the game. But then the outwardly wealthy owner often talks one game and then plays another shortly afterwards.
A serious football game is being played here, and they must be treated with the utmost respect; an acquaintance of mine is moving in as development manager and giving up his Isthmian League North manager's job in order to do it; which indicates they intend to re-start the U23 team they suddenly disbanded after only a third of this season had gone and they are seeking to recruit a lot of upwardly mobile young talent from around London and the south east in order to begin the process of being self-sufficient producers of their own talent rather than continue with the unsustainable manner in which Tamplin has sensationally put this club on the map.
They are an old established club being formed in 1880, have a good core of support and have been in this level of football before having had a singular season in 2012-13 when they finished bottom of the league amidst huge problems with their still notorious pitch and I know that is now a major capital project for this summer.

Owers had already proved he could send out a side to take on and beat Ebbsfleet ~ he did it up there in October ~ and today he had a far better strike force at his disposal; so Darryl McMahon would have been aware of that and set up accordingly. He'll be happy with what he achieved today.

OK I wasn't there and you were, but a case of job done and needs must I would venture.....
Coming straight from a game at Gateshed on Tuesday in one extremity of the country down to Torquay in the other, and the prospect of having to play again at Aldershot on Wednesday; I would have set their side up to contain rahter than chase a game they did not need to win ~ viewing the game as one of a series of vital importance to the future of their club ~ they had no obligaion to be the entertainers.
Mission (for them) accomplished.

Where in my posts do you deduce that Owers is 'my hero'?
Whilst agreeing that this relegation is the culmination of years of mismanagement, I have made it very clear his points from games ratio has been unacceptable ~ does that equate to 'hero worship'?

Guildford Gull wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 18:22You obviously weren't at the Hampton and Richmond v Truro game today!
No I wasn't..... in a very 'busy 'week my chosen live games have been Chelsea V Arsenal (FAYC final) last night ~ which was my second game of the evening after watching my son play at 5pm ~ The return leg on Monday night, Haringey Borough v Heybridge Swifts in the Isthmian North play-off on Wednesday night, Hendon V Folkestone Invicta in the Isthmian Premier play-off on Thurday night and hopefully watching Haringey play in the ILN final next Sunday after watching my younger son trial at Wingate & Finchley on the Saturday morning!
As you see; I watch a a lot of live football and am familair with both Truro and Hampton (who now have to do it all over again on the same ground in the play-offs!) and in the circumstances of this stage of the season would be surprised by your comment; but they are no ATypical of this league in my opinion.

The NLS is patently NOT 'hoofball'. Get that out of your head and maybe talk some sense.MellowYellow wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 18:10 YOUNG " too much of a luxury player for NLS" ? I hope not, as my biggest fear for next season will be realised - Willy Wonker Owers signs up a team of 'hoof-ball' Oompa-Loompas. I suppose if we revert to NLS 'hoof-ball- tactic's that will put an end to the 4G pitch debate - the ball wont be on the ground long enough to warrant one.
It is very, very competitive but slower in pace from the National League which makes it less easy for a player of Young's genre to find the time to play in the manner which his fans are accustomed to.
A midfield of energy and physical strength is a must. Of men rather than boys and talker/bollockers and leaders that's for sure.....it will be no easy option.
