Having just returned from the Lake District the grim up North was certainly not in evidence seemed more like paradise.SuperNickyWroe wrote: ↑20 Jul 2018, 14:11 charming...
you can keep that stereotypical reference to yourself pal.
......oh of course I forgot, Torquay is in the beautiful south and is still the dogs bo11ocks place to live like it was in the 70's and not the sh1thole that it apparently is now......

Hope I'm proved wrong too and its not a case of listening to his soporific voice after eight games when we win and he state's we're not rubbish anymore!Southampton Gull wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 20:12 I have even less faith in Owers winning promotion than I did in him keeping us up. I so hope he proves me wrong but I just can't see it.
I said at the time that I thought Romain could turn out to be a good signing but he's far better than anything we've signed before or since during Owers reign.

Surely there is no 'Plaice', for Owers at Torquay.

We'll see but Pinocchio springs to mind.MellowYellow wrote: ↑02 Jun 2018, 12:57 Has it taken till now with Torquay at their lowest level for 89 years, playing regional football under a clueless management team and an owner with his own personal agenda to recognise that. Or is that a piece of sarcasm rather than being one of those who are unable to 'see the wood for the trees'.
Nonetheless, I am a fair man, and still prepared to give Owers the 'benefit of doubt'.
“Recruitment is king" are Owers own words and he has "one aim and that’s to win the league" and backs this up by telling us “ I know what it will take".
So I wait with 'bated breath'.
We certainly don't want a "bog average non league footballer" as Merse - rightly or wrongly -described Luke Young. So I am fully expecting Owers to entice top quality Football League players to leave their career pathway of football glory to come and play for a mighty regional football club in the 'back of beyond'. Anything else will be totally unacceptable, particularly as Owers has told us he has been spending "weeks and weeks" (just as Harrop did on his appointment) to get the recruitment right, namely top class players to bounce back at the first attempt.

Wonder how many managers would keep their jobs having the length of time Owers has had and getting their club relegated. Not too many methinks.

John Major is available evidently .Southampton Gull wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 07:53 The manager decides on the tactics not the players, that's one aspect they can't be blamed for.
When you've got a dour, miserable manager who has no idea how to motivate or encourage players you're going to suffer poor performance and execution of tactics. Sound familiar?

True the total apathy in his interviews ,it's just saying oh well we've been relegated but so be it see what happens next season.Nothing to enthuse supporters or players alike particularly when trying to encourage new players to start the drive back up the leagues.Yorkieandy wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 23:19 The reason why it will be an even bigger drop is because the owner simply isn't engaging the fanbase. Osborne's approach seems to be, we've gone down so i'll issue a short statement and then forget about it for the summer. That's it. I don't see the begging and the encouragement to fans to keep them interested.
It's like we've gone down, whatever. It's the alarming inactivity and lack of urgency about trying to stop a haemorrhageing fanbase which will contribute to the falling attendances and not just because of plying their trade in a lower league.
There is nothing coming from the owner or the club to make you want to return really.

I’ve struggled all season to look at results because it’s been too painful. I found my life to be slightly more enjoyable if I didn’t know that we’d just lost at home to a team from a moor near Solihull. I’ve had plenty to worry about otherwise and after certain results against certain teams I’ve kinda tried to call it a day because it’s unwanted stress. Inadvertently I found out results and league positions and somehow managed to keep in touch without actually going to game in a season, for the first time in 21 years. After we got relegated I mustered up the courage to have a look to see how we got on against the leagues bottom club, at home. We had nothing to lose.
Lost against the worst team in the league who played 87 minutes with a player less.
It’s like a joke isn’t it?
What an absolute horror show.
Everyone involved in this season should be utterly ashamed of themselves. I wonder if the players and manager feel hard done by because a few people shouted at them. They’ve failed. They’ve let a proud club down.
I hate Clarke osbourne for what he’s done to this club and I feel frustrated that he’s been allowed to do it and that he wants to do it and still have the gall to issue a positive statement on the website.
It’s going to get worse of course. We’ll lose our ‘best’ players and replace them with players who aren’t much better than you or I. Think of the teams we’ll get beaten by next season. With Gary Owers inexplicably still in charge.
It’s just so so sad. I don’t feel like I’ve got a club to support anymore. From the bottom of my heart, I wish that we would cease to exist because it’s just less painful that way.
Next season we’ll be playing Truro city (unless they get promoted) When I was in college one of my classmates played up front for Truro. He was 16 and slightly better than your average 16 year old.
And unfortunately not looking forward to the monotone and mournful tones of Owers as we lose to East Thurrock and Osborne a few weeks later stating he's the man for the job!

Don't know how Osborne can continually say Owers Is the man for the job after this! Then again perhaps he's right as he's the perfect manager to obtain another relegation next year to assist in killing off the club even quicker than the 5 yr plan.

If Owers doesn't get the sack after this then he never will, can't imagine any other manager being so inept.
