As much as I hate to say it I do think we need continuity regarding the manager to try and turn things round but Owers in many situations would have been sacked long before now however it's either getting rid of him now or hoping with continuity he will turn things round.
Still have that feeling that he is part of the so called 5 yr plan to eradicate Torquay as a football club.

Gary Owers
Agree I've said many times how can this man motivate anyone he always sounds like he's just returned from his wife, best friend and mother's funerals all in the same day.tufcyellowarmy wrote: ↑21 Apr 2018, 18:31 I’ve hated every minute of Owers tenure. He was shite from the word go and has no credibility at all. I wanted him gone in October and now I’m led to believe he is here to stay. You can’t make it up. Virtually a whole season and relegated with 2 games spare.
But the thing that gets me most of all and why I can’t wait till he’s gone is his voice.
Interviewing Gary Owers is like interviewing someone recently bereaved from up Nuuuurth. He is so dull , even duller than Bryan Robson and that’s saying something. How the **** can you inspire anyone when you sound like you need cheering up let alone any one else.
Just **** off Owers for pity’s sake and allow us all to wallow in our self pity with dignity without saying another word !!!

SHOULD WE MOVE TRAINING BASE AND GO PART TIME?
You have to cut your cloth accordingly and as gates decrease part time seems logical and as many have stated part time teams have already beaten full time ones ,it comes down to desire of the players and attitude which sadly is lacking for Torquay at present so wherever they train it can't have any bearing .What's needed is a mix of experience and keen youth

Hartlepool United V Torquay United
Thanks for your e-mail,Hartlepool are realistically a football league club and after this season may well be on the rise again whereas Torquay are in freefall at alarming pace.
To state Newcastle Utd not far from you the owner does not want to invest in the club but wants to reap rewards financially so runs it on a shoestring. They like Torquay would also be in decline the difference being that in Benitez a quality manager can get the best out of average players.
Torquay does not have that luxury so with similar players and a manager who is poor added with an owner who has no interest with Torquay as a football club there is only one way to go.
Wish you well for next season as Torquays Annus horribilis continues abated as it has for a number of years.

It hasn't helped that to me Owers body language has been dire since he's been here.Even when we win which admittedly is rare the monotony of his voice remains the same .He sounds like he's permanently depressed which I suppose with most performances he is but just maybe had he shown a bit of passion to the players throughout The season they may have put a bit more effort in to gain a few more points.Whatever work we are in or even socially people thrive off positivity and at present Owers shows none.stephen breed wrote: ↑11 Apr 2018, 10:31 went against the grain and went up last night of the first time this season wow they really are absolutely awful. the defending for the 2nd and 3rd goal was really something out of the keystone cop 11 handbook do people actually rate that Sean mcginty he is dire and gowling beside him is a accident waiting to happen. I watched luke young for a fair part of that game last night he cannot wait to get rid of the ball every time he has it rushed passes backwards passes no thrust whatsoever what has happened to him. It was a sad watch even worse was the many fans I chatted to last night all seam to have the same opinion that the owners and management of the club could not care a jot about what's going on the pitch. People I have known for many years the go every game brigade saying we should have done what you did and just walked away that's such a sad thing to hear. Can they rebuild you would hope so with the infistructure all in place and a loyal base of 1200 fans but they need to start with a bang next season to keep them. Is owers the man to do it I am not sure his body language last night was one of a beaten man. One other thing how would you price up season tickets and normal match day tickets next season what could they realistically expect people to pay to get in to watch the likes of Hemel hemsted and concord
rangers difficult call that but one the need to get bang on.. stephen

Could become problematic for sure but within ten games should be enough to see if things are at least stabilizing and if not I can't see any other option than changing the manager again to at least give time to avoid another relegation not ideal but would need to be done.It of course comes down to management or rather mismanagement by Harrop.

Don't disagree Goody ,I don't think Nicholson can be blamed for the current situation it is ultimately down to Owers with the time he's had to at least get us safe and has failed I just think we need stability for next season so need to see what he does next year if after a short spell he's still a disaster then change it asap rather than dithering like this season,.

Must admit earlier in the season and throughout most of it except the last 2/3rds Owers has been nothing less than diabolical but eating humble pie he has improved within the last ten games or so albeit too late and ultimately has been a failure. However as things have recently improved I do think he is worthy of continuing once we are relegated. The problem being of course that it will probably be a complete rebuild of the squad again.

Merse has many points I personally agree with and almost an equal amount I disagree with but he's undoubtedly a literate guy whose very opinionated but it is up to others to either agree with him or argue the toss if they disagree but it surely must be possible to debate without personal vendettas whoever it may be.
